Seems like IU and Illinois are very interested. We are still on his list as well. Anyone know anything else about our chances?
I think if Buzz wants him Buzz can get him.

He'd be a great get..., why do you think he'd go MU rather than IU? Sounds enamored with Crean and IU's resurgence.
If I remember right, he's close with Duane Wilson. If we end up with space, I think we'd be the team to beat for McKay, especially with his Milwaukee roots and our JUCO history.
Would say MU would be logical choice. Interview obviously biased IU because the forum it was conducted in. Like our chances if Buzz wants the kid.

Buzz may want him, but the ability to get him may be a completely different story.
Do we have contact with him? Sounds like he would be interested in coming here. Wouldn't mind both him and Lockett.
The Milwaukee kid wanting to go to Marquette as a dream school is becoming a very real thing under Buzz.

We've offered him.

Yes, MU has contact with him, and has for some time. Lockett will be gone by the time Jameel hits campus.
"Right now they're interested in me coming in and playing right away."
Really? With everyone else Crean has coming to Bloomington?
If McKay isn't Buzz's top target, he's gotta be close. Adding him could very well lead to some trophies...
C Gardner Sr/ Otule (6th)Sr
PF J. Wilson Sr/ McKay Jr/ Taylor So
SF Blue Sr/ Anderson Jr/ Burton Fr/ Jones Sr
SG Mayo Jr/ Taylor Jr/ Thomas (5th)Sr/ Ferguson So
PG D. Wilson Jr/ D. Wilson Fr
Obviously that's one over, but regardless there will be some sick talent and depth. McKay could give MU potentially 5 really good post players. Plus BIG time talent and depth between the 2 & 3. PG is a question mark, but if Blue or Mayo can play well at PG by then......that roster would be ridiculously good! Loads of talent with 10 or 11 upperclassmen.

With this team I would expect/hope for us to run Vander/Mayo at point and then run J. Wilson at the three with Mckay or Taylor at the four. This would be a great team.

I don't know. I'm just asking. Is there any evidence that Mayo is a division I point guard?

Did TJ Taylor transfer after one year, Thomas is a walkon, so somebody has to leave for McKay. Has anybody seen this kid play?
JuCo AA, right?!
It's setting up nicely if he comes to MU. we need some depth at the post.

I would not consider him a post player, plays like a 4, go watch his video. He can play.
Forgot about TJT....now fixed.

Nothing other than that he has been mentioned as a combo, which would lead one to believe he might be able to play both guard spots.

He brought the ball up several times last year (even while Cadougan was on the court), but I don't think I'd be comfortable with him playing that role exclusively. He usually makes good decisions with the ball though, so it might be an option if he develops his ball handling, passing, and awareness over the next few years (and I expect he will).
Assuming we take one more for 2013, this is a tough choice between Nunn and McKay. Nunn probably has a greater upside, but we need some size and McKay looks like he can play.
If you take a player like McKay, you are expecting him to start right away and with Otule, Gardner, Jamil Wilson, Juan Anderson and Steve Taylor able to play inside, I'm not sure if that would be the case and if they have an open scholarship, I think recruiting a PF or C from the high school ranks gets the nod as it balances the classes better. Adding McKay to Anderson, Mayo, T.J. Taylor and Derrick Wilson puts that class at 5 and a 5 man class is not the best when you have a 5 man class ahead of that one.

If I had to pick between the two, which would be a great thing to be forced to do, I think I would go Nunn. McKay would only be here for two years so he would really only help us for one year because in his junior year we still have Otule, Gardner, and Jamil. His senior year his height would be nice, but I think Nunn has the potential to be a stud. We would have to recruit big guys in 2014, but either way both guys would be a great get for MU.
Quite a list of schools want him.
Marquette
Illinois
Iowa
Iowa State
Indiana
Memphis
Missouri
It will probably come down to MU and IU.

I would think pretty much everyone here would be elated to get either of them. I think McKay would give MU a better chance at a title, so he'd be my #1 choice. There would be an even more unbalanced roster, but I'd rather go all out for a title. MU would still be REALLY good the next year and I would expect have some blue chips coming in. Also, Nunn probably wouldn't play PG his 1st year, which looks like the only potential weak spot. With that said, I'd still take Nunn in a heartbeat if he's ready to commit.
The recruiting boards seem to have Crean all over this kid. Hopefully, he'd appreciate Buzz's record with JUCO's - plus he'd be the successor to Jae with the dreads.
I hope like heck we sign McKay, not just because he'd be a great fit at MU from a roster complexion perspective, but also that it would signal we are still able to sign JUCO players. MU is/has been thought to be the leader for McKay - as he's looking for a program/coach that has a track record for developing players and getting them to the next level. Not sure there is a coach with a better track record of taking JUCO guys and getting them NBA/NBDL ready than Buzz.
I just hope he does not oversign, ie. Uthoff vs. McKay. I think Buzz does not worry about that at all.

Do you mean will the admin allow us (Buzz) to still be able to sign JUCO players? Or that we still can effectively (able) to sign JUCO players?
We should continue to be on every top JUCOs(AA/POY) list as the school where JUCOs come to win, develop, and move on to the next level.

I have some concern that the recruitment of JUCO's is part of the disconnect between Buzz and the Administration...and my feeling on this is more than speculation, yet I cannot say it is 100% factual. Connecting different dots...the the rift b.t. Buzz and Admin, the D-List interview yesterday, MU re-emerging/energizing in the Matt Thomas recruitment (La Crosse Aquinas), now being involved with Uthoff. The best way to describe the current climate of MU hoops, is that there is/has been a disconnect between Buzz and the Administration.
I do think some of the disconnect is on JUCOs and I think that the D-List answer was as much to the administration as it was to external critics. However, I don't think we can use recruiting Thomas and Uthoff as proof of that. Both of those guys are really good players. I don't know much about Uthoff's style of play, but some here have said he's a good shooter. Thomas is supposed to be a very good shooter.
Matt Thomas plays for Onalaska, i believe. But, i hear what you are saying.

Peter King approves of this waffling statement. TRUTHINESS.
at least he said "I have some concern" - I have learned that makes all the rampant speculation ok...

Not enough citrus or nutmeg in that waffle to be on PK's level
He said he wants to make his decision by July. Hopefully were one of the finalists in on him.
Was pleased to see him tweet last night that he misses Milwaukee. I think that being the hometown team could very well play in our favor with McKay.
