Already 25 points vs the Celtics. 8/10 from Downtown! Way to go!
Sir Charles called him the best shooter in the NBA. When he was 4 of 6.

Best ever? Novak may have a shot. Steve Kerr is a tough comparison

Novak or Ray Allen. Novak has the height advantage, but can't put the ball on the floor at all.
Mark Price. Reggie Miller. Ray Allen. Steve Kerr. Larry Bird. Steve Nash. Hubert Davis. Louie Dampier. Steve Novak.
Is Novak the best shooter ever? Dunno, but he's definitely in the team picture of the best I've ever seen. And I'm old, so I've seen lots!!
Is there a most improved category type award he could win?
I believe Van Gundy said Novak leads the league in 3pt fg % on Sunday. Today's 8-10 sure didn't bring that down.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2012_leaders.html
As of last night, Novak (.458) leads Sessions (.457), Ilyasova (.456), Curry (.455), and Allen (.455) by a hair. the 8-10 should increase his lead with only 5(?) games left to play.
On a related note, I was surprised to see that Wes is tied with KD for third most 3 Pt FGs made (118) behind Anderson and Terry. I didn't realize that he shoots that many from beyond the arc (6th in attempts, 305)

Wes actually went 8/10 just two nights ago en route to 31 pts.
all-time, just talking about threes, hard to beat Steve Kerr
Was ABA three-point shot longer than the NBA
I hope Novak gets a serious look for the Olympic team. I know...sounds laughable, but we've been done in before by not having 3-point shooters. I wouldn't see him getting a lot of minutes, but in a lineup with potentially Rose, Durant, Griffin, and Howard at the same time, which guy is going to be left unguarded? And if he is guarded, will it be by anyone who can get in the way of his shot? Hell, if Michael Redd could make an Olympic team for that reason, no reason Novak couldn't.

I too share the Novak love. The fact that he's having his career resurgence on the biggest stage in basketball is awesome (and should bode well for the best contract he's ever seen). Players and fans are starting to take notice of what many of us have known for nearly a decade.
Broeker's tweet was great "Fans were shocked when he missed in college."
I saw a Knicks fan tweet "When Novak gets the ball people stand up like he's Jesus."
I love it all...but a guy who is not starting for his own team, is not going to make the Olympic team.

I was watching the NCAA tourney game my freshman year (2006) against Alabama in Las Vegas. And when Novak got the ball in the corner when we were down 3 right there at the end, I just turned away from the TV and shouted out to the whole bar, "Overtime!" without actually watching the shot itself.
Obviously, I was quite surprised he missed and the whole bar probably thought I was a huge a**hole
Greatest shooter in MU history and one of the best all time anywhere IMO. He really is fun to watch and he is on perfect time right now. Funny thing is with his skills I would think most teams would be perfect fit for him. Very happy that he is having this run.

Kerr was amazing. Do note that the 3-point arc was shortened to 22 feet all around -- as opposed to 23 ft, 9 inches everywhere except corners, where it is 22 -- during three of his best years: 94-95, 95-96, 96-97. (It was moved back out before the 97-98 season.) But the man could shoot from anywhere.
To answer seinfeld's question, today's NBA 3-point line is the same as the old ABA's. The NBA didn't adopt the ABA rule until three years after the merger.
One other Novak aside: When he and Illinois' James Augustine were both seniors, I had an interesting debate with several of my Illini friends about if and when they both would be drafted -- and if either would have any kind of NBA career.
Although I didn't want to sound like the Marquette partisan I was (and am), I still thought Novak was the obvious choice. Both players had serious shortcomings, but Novak had one skill that every team at every level needs.
Novak ended up going 32nd overall to Houston, nine picks ahead of where Orlando took Augustine. Augustine hardly played at all and didn't even last two full seasons. Novak bounced around before finally finding the right fit, and, as we know, has become a sensation in New York.
With such a premium on spreading the floor and shooting the 3, I still am amazed that four teams dumped Novak, including well-run Dallas and San Antonio organizations. Despite his slight build and quickness deficiency, he still has that one skill that every team at every level needs. The Knicks finally gave him a chance to really display the value of that skill, and I think it will lead to a long, lucrative career.
As for Augustine, I think he's playing in Spain. If only he could shoot ...
In fairness to Ray Allen, Kerr completed 1992 (and counting) less 3 pointers. That number is greater than Kerr's 3PA during his entire career. Stats per NBA.com

At this rate Novak will easily be resigned by the Knicks and now that he is recognized he will be in the 3pt contest next year (where he will win of course). Just wish Travis Diener or Dom James or Jerel had also gotten a shot like this.
here's the link where he made 8 3's

I love the mixtapes... usually with the high flyers, but the Novakaine one is pretty hot considering he never jumps more than 6 inches.

I heard he is a stationary shooter that can't move off the ball or score. Not in college, not in the pros. ::)
He is also 6'10. That overcomes a lot of his shortcomings.
Can't jump either and is traditional to boot.

Name me a 6'10" guy who can REALLY put it on the floor.
I bet you've named some NBA All-Stars (i.e. Kevin Durant) or (their team's) starters.
On Novak's situation: His team recognizes his skill and is giving it up to him. That's a plus. The game he had 25 vs the Celtics, Bibby fed him a few times. The same Bibby who played alongside with 6'9" Predrag Stojakovic and 6'10" Hideyet Turkoglu (also, three point shooters), and that's a plus.

Really gay teal response. And I never said he couldn't score.
If you don't think Steve Novak is a stationary shooter I can't help you understand.
You sure it wasn't a heterosexual teal response?

Your maturity level is outstanding. Unfortunately your basketball IQ isn't.
You said he can't shoot off the dribble, can't create his own shot.
Please, watch a 3 minute video and keep telling yourself that.
