With Tim Jankovich and Jerrance Howard going to SMU, I believe this might open up a position at Illinois State for Benford. I would love to see Benford in a HC role. He definitely deserves that position.
Damn. Brown is assembling one hell of a stat.
Recruiting in Texas could get very tight.

Isaiah Thomas left the pro game and went into college coaching a few years back. Maybe he can give Larry B. a couple of pointers about recent changes in the college game.

It's interesting that schools the likes of Kansas, Kentucky, L'Ville and Florida and now SMU have all been rumored w/ Howard, but nothing has actually happened.
Just got a tweet from Evan Daniels confirming Howard took the SMU job.
As pointed out on the Scout board, he has likely not officially signed with SMU, and SMU hasn't announced any agreement, because as soon as he does so he will be subject to NCAA limitations on recruiting. Right now, he can go anywhere since he isn't officially employed.
Buzz will likely do the same thing with his next assistant.
Anyone realistically expect Larry Brown will be at SMU more than a couple of years?

Even SMU doesn't expect that. That's why he brought that other guy in to be his "coach in waiting".

Except no one knows if Jankovich is leaving or not. I'm very skeptical of this whole SMU situation right now. Strickland is officially staying at UK, who was reported with the others to be going to SMU. Personally I think a "coach in waiting" job at SMU is worthless, if Jankovich keeps doing well at ISU he'll land a much better job and I wouldn't be shocked to see his name surface as long shot for the VT job. Brown was introduced on Monday and nothing has been added about his staff, I find it a little strange given how "strong" the rumors were.
reportedly SMU has offered Jankovich 5-7 years @ over $800k per year as an assistant coach (and the coach-in-waiting position).
Which is more than Greenberg was paid at Virginia Tech
