Great news for Taylor. Looking forward to his contributions.
It's always funny to see how recruits shrink the closer they get to matriculating to Marquette.

JFB was honorable mention JUCO AA after one year. I think DJO was second team. Using that as a base Taylor could be very good.
To your second point, maybe the mere thought of Milwaukee's cold winters causes "shrinkage".

DJO was definitely 1st team, that I know for sure. I think Fulce was 2nd team the year Jimmy B was honorable mention. And as we all know Jae was POY. Buycks was 2nd team I believe, or possibly 1st.
So that has actually translated pretty well to BEast honors:
Jae won BEast POY after being JUCO POY
DJO was 1st team All-BEast after being 1st team JUCO AA
Jimmy B was honorable mention All-BEast (totally jobbed, IMO) after being honorable mention JUCO AA
Buycks obviously fell short of his JUCO accolades, and Fulce doesn't factor into the equation due to severe injury limitations. 3/4 right on the money ain't bad.
Let's hope it translates just as well for Taylor!
Remember when people freaked when Buzz was signing JUCOs left and right -- probably because they thought he was signing another Jamil Lott or Trend Blacklidge.
With regard to Buycks, I think him being a local kid played a key role in his signing -- his basketball abilities were secondary. Fulce could have been a Jamil Wilson type of player if it were not for his injuries.
I expect Taylor will be a quality player his junior and senior year. Hopefully will get some quality minutes this year.
I have zero problem signing three-year JUCOs -- Buzz has earned that benefit of the doubt. I do think we have reached the point where two-year JUCO signings should be at a minimum -- unless one thinks they will be a special player like Crowder.

I think Taylor's different, considering we were in on him as a HS player. But considering the guys Buzz brought in from the JUCO ranks include two guys that were clearly contributors in Fulce and Buycks and three guys that are either already in the NBA or may be heading there in JFB, DJO, and Jae, I think he's earned a bit of trust in that regard.

Buycks was a 1st Team All American and had offers from Memphis and Tennessee. It definitely was a benefit that he was a local kid, but he was highly regarded coming out of JUCO. If my recollection is correct, TJ Taylor will be the lowest regarded JUCO we've signed, as I believe all the others were 2nd Team All American or better. Ironically, TJ Taylor would have been one of our higher ranked kids signed if he came straight from High School - be was a Top 50-75 player coming out of HS.
This has likely already been posted but I love how smooth this kid is with the ball

glad u enjoyed the video but that TJ TAylor is not going to MU ::)
At this point, anybody who would question Buzz for bringing in a juco is just plain foolish.

This is slightly off. Jimmy B was honorable mention JUCO AA which is lower than TJ's 3rd team. And TJ Taylor only made one top 100 list out of HS, coming in at 78 per ESPN. Rivals had him as a high 3* and 104 overall, Scout had him as a 3*, #28 SG and out of the top 100 overall (the last SG in Scout's top 100 was #24, so he was a high 3* there as well). We have several players on next year's roster that were consensus top 100 in JWilson, Vander Blue, Junior Cadougan, Jamail Jones, Juan Anderson, and Steve Taylor. A couple more have left the program (Maymon & Williams) that were higher ranked out of HS as well.

Ha! If only we could pry him away from USCB.
Side note - was that a Juan Anderson sighting at the 0:14 mark?
Remember TJ was recovering from a serious concussion that prompted his exit from Oklahoma. When he came to Parris CC he had been away from the game completely, was rusty as heck and this past year was a time for him to get back into game shape. TJ should be completely recovered and ready for D1 action.
