Apparently we are "emerging as landing spot" for him atthis point... As tweeted by jon rothstein via paint touches...
emerge away. adding a proven scorer would be awesome.
Sign me up. I am usually way against guys leaving/not coming to the program, but if you have the chance to replace DJOs scoring with a one-year scholarship, you find a way to make it work. Lockett would look great in a MU uni NEXT year.
We're just kidding ourselves. Bleacher Report has him going to Minnesota, and we all know that BR is never wrong. Their contributors own computers and are connected to the internet and everything.

That last sentence made me LOL.

Any inside info on this strot? Seems like there would be some chatter if there were any legs to it...

There's definitely a scenario out there MU is looking at which could make it happen. Have to wonder if Marquette is close enough to his hometown, though. Minnesota is in the mix, and would obviously be closer.
As a sophomore, Lockett's weaknesses were three point shooting and free throw %. As a junior he improved his 3 point % from 32.3 to 41.2, and his free throw % from 66.2 to 71.1.
Where's he from in Minnesota?
Sorry, just figured out, all on my own ;). He iis from Hopkins HS. Same school as Kris Humphries (the state dumb a$$) and Kelsey Soby, the channel 9 hot traffic babe ;D ;D ;D

Yessir Mr Zappa, sir.
He addresses a large need in the shooting and consistent scorer category.
If he starts, the bench is uber deep.
Mayo
TJ Taylor
Gardner
Anderson/Jamail
D. Wilson
They could go 10 deep every game. That second unit has a nice mix of scoring, defense and some versatility in there too.
My guess is with that roster, Buzz would push for an even faster pace and more ball pressure.
Would be very fun to watch.

Played at Hopkins HS and won a championship with Royce White (Domer Mike Broghammer also on that team).

Unless he thinks he can do something special with Mwabke, he is wasting his time at the u of m. Tubby's team is not top 20.
My understanding is that for Lockett to be eligible next season, he either would have to graduate this summer (which is possible, as he's an Academic All-American and supposedly is fairly close to completing his coursework) or would have to get a special waiver from the NCAA due to his mother's poor health.
As for the latter, is it a stretch to think the NCAA would grant that waiver so he could be close to his cancer-stricken mother, given that his mother lives in Minnesota? Yes, that's closer than Arizona, but it's hardly down the block.

She stripped away
Her ranchid poncho
An' laid out naked by the door
We did it till we were un-concho
An' it was useless any more
I think he'd be a perfect fit and could even step into the starting lineup. We're definitely a bit low on senior leadership this year, it'd be nice if he could help fill that role.
If he graduates it's a definite that he can play in the fall. Only issue will be the timing - especially with a one year player it would be a huge help to have him on campus in June rather than mid-late August. Otherwise it's up to the NCAA whether Milwaukee is close enough to Minnesota to grant the waiver. Not sure if there ever was an attempt to get the exemption in Jamil's case, but IIRC it was his grandmother and there hadn't been a significant change in health from the year before when he had left to go to Oregon.

If MU lands Lockett, Buzz needs to send a copy of the linked movie to the NCAA:

Are you a fan of his?
Indifferent. But I do think he's been unfairly bashed for far too long.
He was a real piece of of work in HS. His dad, in public, would call Kris "GP"'...Going Pro.
Trust me, he's been full of himself, and not too bright, for a while.
Do have to give him some credit for making a few bucks in the NBA.
So, to review, the board has two Trent Lockett threads, one is about Aaron Durley, and the other is about Kris Humphries.

I'll take your word for it. "GP"...wow.
