How much of our schedule is set for next year? I know we got Maui, Wisco and LSU at home but will we find another big name game for a new mirror oppenent?
Im hearing that the gophers are about to land a "big name, big draw" home and home for next year and a lot of their fans think its us. We could use a true road game for next year, but does anyone know if we are in talks for any other home/home for next year whether its the gophers or not?
MU would be a big draw in Minnesota? Interesting. I am guessing we get a road game in the BEast/SEC challenge.

Good point, that probably will be the case.
About us being a big draw. Keep in mind, we are BE, close in proximity and they are the gophers after all. Anything better than USC and VT can be a big draw these days.
I expect 13 non-con games. Right now, this is what we know:
Home: Wisconsin, LSU, UW-Milwaukee
Away: UW-Green Bay
Neutral: Maui Classic (3 games)
That leaves 6 games. I would guess one Big East/SEC Challenge game and a high-major road game as the start of a home-and-home. Though what I would really like is the start of a 2-for-1 with Murray State. It was a great game last year and with them having a retuning All-American we could probably get ESPN2 coverage. Then go down there when Canaan graduates. It'd be a great scenario for everyone involved. Then three cupcakes that project in the 150-225 range (meaning at worse we likely have zero sub-300 opponents) and call it a day.

Is UW-M a 2-1 style? UW-M played at BC this past year.

UWM is a 6-1 or 7-1, cant remember which, and I believe last year was the last year of the current deal with them.

That would be a great schedule with Maui giving 3 great oppenents, the 2 already known and then the SEC team and other high major as two more. I definitely want something like this in two years when we have a squad most think will be top tier. Hopefully our question marks for next year can compete.

Old farts will remember that Minnesota was a regular game (if not a rival) during the Al McGuire days.
MU should look to schedule something out west on their way out to Maui (for a home/home). If KO wasn't going to Maui, I'd have said SC. Zags would be interesting.
Schools I'd love to see home-and-aways:
- UNC
- Duke
- UCLA
- Texas
- Arizona
- Washington
- Michigan
- Ohio State
- Missouri
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Syracuse ;)

Maui counts as 1

Maui counts as 1
Yes...and now that I think about it, we may not be able to play 13 games. The max number of games you can get from the 1-game slot of the exempt tournament is 4. Last year, we got to 4 games by playing Norfolk State at home as part of the Paradise Jam, and both Bucknell and UW-Green Bay in 2010 were actually part of the CBI. Does Maui do the same?
Just looked it up, and they do add 4 mainland teams. So we should get an extra game. Regardless, we should have a 13 game non-conference schedule, and the seven I listed will be among those. It doesn't matter what Maui counts for, it will net us 4 games.

I'm almost positive it was a 4-1 arrangement, but you are correct that last year was the end of the current deal.

I expect we'll renew it in some form, but I really wish we would only do buy games for UWGB and UWM. We gain very little by winning those games and stand to lose a fair amount of face by losing.
Oh man I'd love to play UK in the BE/SEC challenge :o

Not unthinkable...Louisville will already play them in their series and UK didn't play in the Challenge last year. MU/UK would be a nice marquee match-up, though Georgetown, Syracuse, or even Cincy could make for pretty impressive match-ups with the Wildcats.
I'd be happy with UK, Florida, another shot at Vandy, or Tennessee. Though with how strong the SEC has been of late, most anyone they'd put in the challenge should be a good shot at a top-100 team.
Nothing has been signed yet for a new MU-UWM series.
Does anyone know what the website is that athletic directors/administrators post open game dates on? I remember seeing it on this board somewhere, but I can't seem to find it for the life of me.

I don't know that I'd count on three great opponents. The field seems a bit weak compared to years past:
--Illinois was probably projected as a great team when they signed, but they're going to take a step back next year.
--USC isn't a good team--was only 6-26. They'll be better, but won't be great by any stretch.
--Butler is remembered for their Final Fours, but tied with UWM in the Horizon with 7 league losses--and we know where we are relative to UWM.
--Chaminade is, well, Chaminade
--Mississippi State was a .500 non-tournament team in the SEC, has a new coach, and is losing five of their top six players to transfer, the NBA draft or graduation.
That's five mediocre-to-lousy teams right there. We're team #6. That gives us a
maximum of two opponents one might consider "great"--Texas and UNC.
If I were organizing, I'd try to set up a UNC/Marquette championship game. That probably means we get two mediocre to lousy games, followed by the championship. UNC gets one lousy game, then Texas in the 2nd round, because UNC probably has a better shot at beating Texas than we do.

If I were guessing, I'd assume they'll try to set up a UNC/Texas (big draw) and Butler/Marquette. The Bulldogs will be very good next year. They return 8 of their top 9 guys in terms of minutes and scoring, including their top two scorers. They also are adding Rotnei Clarke, who was a stud at Georgia (averaged over 15 ppg both his sophomore and junior years) and a top-100 SG in Kellen Dunham that could contribute right away. They may not be back to Final Four level, but they will be one of the best mid-majors in the country next year.
As far as the other game...I'm really hoping for the Illini in the opener, though my guess is they'll play UNC in a rematch of the 2005 NCAA Final. USC and Mississippi State will both likely be in shambles, while Chaminade is, well, as you said, Chaminade. If we don't get the Illini, I think I'd prefer Mississippi State. The SEC is a much better league than the Pac-12, and will likely result in a better RPI opponent. I really don't want Chaminade...that's a complete waste of a game right there.

It would sell out the barn for sure. Their non conference schedule is typically awful, and their are lots of MU grads in twin cities. Add to the fact that it's only a 5 hour drive for you Milwaukee folk, I would love it. If you've never been to Williams arena it's a great place to watch CBB....if you're into the retro thing. MN will be very good next year if they stay healthy.
