Illegal calls. And lots of them. Shocking. They had me fooled that they just magically turned into a powerhouse in Waco, Texas. There is no doubt in my mind that it isn't just illegal phone calls going on there.
Women's team involved as well.
I'm just surprised it took so long, and its just illeagle calls?

Agreed.
It really is wonderful that we haven't had to deal with this. Great to have a clean program so we can just worry about recruits and winning and not if those wins will be taken away by due to recruiting tactics or players not graduating.

This +1. It always seems very suspicious, to me, when an "average" program all of a sudden brings in a ton of highly rated recruits. Guess suspicions are confirmed here. Not too surprised. Would love to have had a couple of their players in Milwaukee.

Do not ever think that MU is that clean, you may think that, but theres questions hear as well. I wonder about certain schools all the time, the schools that were recruiting Duane Wilson
were Memphis, Missouri and MU. MU won the battle. I wonder how, who is Duane Wilsons AAU coach???
The clowns are out tonight.

I know enough to say that all the top programs have some type of issues. The World Wide Wes people now are everywhere with all the good players. Brandon Dawson at Mich. St., like to
know what truly went down there. It is a shame that AAU coaches take over for these kids. Point guard at Cinci, I wonder what his story is, and it is not pretty. Recruiting is about money, not the school. School is secondary. Waco, Texas, who in there right mind would go there. Phone calls, that is probably the tip of the iceberg. Call me a clown, shows how ignorant you are on what goes on behind the scenes now. Clean, maybe Bo Ryan.

Guys like Coach K, Roy Williams, Tom Izzo...their name speaks for themselves. Their programs speak for themselves. They do not need to cheat. Not every top program cheats. Baylor was as obvious as they come.
If Scott Drew gets fired, Buzz to Baylor? Here we go again...

Ask O.J. what went down.
No school is completely clean, and its foolish to think everything your school does is on the up and up. I mean, there are just so many petty, ridiculously restrictive and specific rules to follow that it is quite a balancing act to achieve. That being said, it is obvious which programs are knowingly sticking their toes over the line all the time.

Given their history, I could swear that Scott Drew is auditioning for the SMU job.

ho hum... some recruiting restrictions. a few scholarships lost. probation.
While I'd like to believe MU is completely clean I really can't believe it knowing this story I'll tell now. I was back home on Christmas break junior year and ran into a kid I went to high school with at a party who got a scholarship at NIU for wrestling. The kid was a few drinks in and told me how he had already accepted $16,000 in the the 1st semester. This is for wrestling! Granted, the school had a D1 program but wrestling isn't one of your major revenue sports even if you're Iowa or Oklahoma (two of the best annually in the sport). If kids on sports teams are being offerred this much cash or just being offerred money in general it makes you wonder what kids who play D1 football and D1 basketball are getting thrown at them.
I have a few buddies who went to ND and they'd have a high and mighty attitude about ND football and how their program is clean but when you hear this story it's hard not to realize that if you're a school with a top football or basketball program you're likely not completely on the up and up. All that said, I believe every school lives by the mantra of bend the rules but don't break them (or, at least, don't get caught).
I laugh when I see or hear people talk about Duke and Coach K being clean when he's just as guilty. One example, Carlos Boozer was from Alaska, he commits and next thing you know his Mom has a job at Duke and his dad has a job in NC too. There's different ways to go about sealing the deal on a commit but every school is doing something.
I choose to focus on the school graduating most of their players, being solid members of the campus and general community that are held accountable like everyone else and being fun team to watch. With all the money the NCAA makes off these kids they should pay the athletes something as you may get kids to stay longer than 1 year improving the quality of the college game and improving the quality of the NBA in the long run.
The kid was yankin ur chain
A good friend of mine, Pat Christensen, won two NCAA titles wrestling for Wisconsin. I know that he never had more than 20 cents in his pocket the whole time he was at UW. I find it hard to believe that a champion athlete at at major wrestling power never collected an illicit dime but a kid wrestling at NIU is paid handsomely. After graduating, he earned his first real check working for Dan Gable's camps. He ended up as the assistant AD at UNLV and is now the CEO of Las Vegas Events.
I think your NIU friend is full of crap, actually.
