""Not going to happen" a source said of speculation about Williams, who has little reason to leave Marquette and had some serious disiplinary problrms among his players"
Little jealous I'd guess.

By the way the Suntimes reporter's name is Herb Gould and his email address is hgould@suntimes.com in case anyone would like to comment on his article.

I wonder what they think of Calhoun or Boeheim?
They love to bash MU in Chicago. We inconveniently get in the way of their Illinois and Notre Dame agenda. I expect it.

Something they've never experienced in Champaign.
An unnecessary cheap shot for sure. That said, there's enough smoke out there the last couple years to create, at a minimum, a perception problem. Must put Buzz in an uncomfortable position give how he goes to bat for his guys.

Since when did a statement of fact become a cheap shot?

Since when did 6 college kids hanging out at a bar and NOT drinking becoming a disciplinary problem?

That hasn't been the only issue you know.
It's the only issue the Sun-Times reporter knows

Unless he saw MU on the 1A of the Chicago Tribune twice last year for reasons other than the great taste of Real Chili.
If Buzz was going to U of I, they'd gloss over any and all disciplinary issues. Since it's "not going to happen," they'll play up the idea that his players are troublemakers and they didn't really want him.
I didn't read the article as I refuse to read the Sun Times but if the writer is implying somehow that Illinois is not interested because of some disciplinary issues that is comical.
Illinois has and will continue to be a place where not so savory characters matriculate from time to time. When was the last time Marquette had anyone like Jereme Richmond?
Please.

If I recall correctly, one of their players left another for dead in a parking lot after a car accident a couple years ago. Thankfully, he was OK, but I gotta think that would affect team chemistry a little bit!
The comment in the Sun Times struck me. Not for piling on or taking a cheap shot. No. But for the perception of Buzz may be a little more tainted on the outside than at MU. We have had discussions here about whether Buzz is happy or not. Well, maybe he is in a better position here where they understand what has gone on, steps to correct it and the character of the man. Maybe other schools might shy away for that reason. That could help MU.

Yep. That was Jamar Smith.
And let's not forget Luther Head, Aaron Spears and Richard McBride.

That was my question. The last few weeks aren't the first news stories of the last 2+ years either about MU hoops. The Sun-Times sucks, but if UI is concerned about hiring someone that has had some players in the press for things other than hoops, than that is certainly their right.
