Title: Positives from tonight
Post by: Clam Crowder on March 23, 2012, 12:08:00 AM
We saw that Todd Mayo could be a leader next year. I believe that him and Jamil will lead next years team and we could very well be in the tourney an 8th straight year. I am really sad about how this season ended and won't fully recover until March, but next year I think we will all see a team led by Todd Mayo.

Don't forget about a healthy Davante

I was talking to my friend during the game, and we were wondering if Ox is gonna need some type of surgery on that knee. It was very risky to bring him back, but yes Amen to a healthy Ox, maybe a slimmer Ox even that could play the 4. Imagine a lineup with Jamil at the 3 Ox at the 4 and Otule at the 5. That would be a big lineup right there. I like what we have Junior just seemed to lose it in the last couple of weeks, we went from saying he was deserving of being on the Cousy list to just being disappointed with him. I like the team, and I like the talent, Steve Taylor as well...So much height.

A healthy Davante still cannot jump...

I was thinking that during the game when the announcers were going on and on about how Garder's hurt and it's obvious because he has no lift.  He wasn't exactly the elevator man before the injury, was he?

But he'll still be able to bang.

Ox was absolutely on fire before that injury. Most of us didn't even know he could dunk until he threw down in one game before the injury. He can get up higher than he was with that injury. I think that injury was a bit worse than we all think. He played through it and showed a ton of heart.

He's dunked more than R Jax did in an MU uniform.  I think.

A healthy Otule!

Agreed about Gardner.  He looked hurt today.  He gave us hope because he powered through the injury, but I think it just caught up with him tonight.

Those two will be studs, but you look at the Big East next year...Pitt and Nova will be down again Notre Dame will be what they usually are and surprise Cuse should be down as well in their last year with us. I think we will be fine next year. Last year the question was asked who will be the leader. Jae answered that. When the question is asked this summer someone else will answer.

Vander will come off the bench. He's had two years in the system.

Syracuse and Louisville made the Big East some money with their wins.

I've been thinking about this and am not worried about Buzz leaving this year at all.  I don't think there's any way he doesn't stay to coach Junior's final year.  Of all the players, he seems to be most vocal about Junior and the "son" relationship.

Marquette's defense was actually pretty good.  Florida was held to 1.01 ppp and 46% eFG%.  Both of those numbers are well below the averages for the #3 overall offense.

It'll be weird next year when defense is more our calling card than offense.

He's not leaving.  He said he wouldn't leave and I trust him.  He repeated it multiple times in strong language.  I heard him say it personally once.
So I'm not going to worry about Buzz leaving.

Of course there's a chance he won't be here the rest of his career, but I choose to ignore that and trust the man at his word.  I'll deal with it if that time comes.  Unless a no-brainer opens up (UCLA, UK, KU, UNC, Duke, Texas, ?), I'm not worried at all.  And if he left for one of those I would understand; I'd still be pissed, but I would understand.
