He had already been here for a year, sitting next to a guy. He knew what would be left. He won the job the guy recommended him for. He began to get a picture of a team that could compete in 4 years for the National Championship.
It would require a couple-three JUCOs of course, and he'd have to find those JUCOs where he knew to look for them. And they couldn't be just any JUCOs, they had to be the right ones, ideally a year apart but fitting in that same picture, four years out. His best connections-the Texas ones-would have to be worked hard. The big high school kid he liked but nobody else did was in the picture. So was the in-state kid who seemed committed to his hometown. The Canadian PG was in the picture and when a talented home-grown kid reconsidered and looked for a local gig he fit the picture too.
If he tried to sell that picture to his new bosses he would have been laughed at. Hell, some who thought they saw the picture, laughed openly at Buzz' vision of it. Far brighter minds forecast how wrong this might be and how the University was abandoning its long-lost but recently found basketball legacy. How wrong the doubters have been.
Thanks Buzz, for sharing your picture with a lot of us who have fully appreciated its long-lasting brilliance. Thanks for the effort that it took, the time, commitment and sacrifice on the part of you and the staff. I just don't want to forget the artist. It's your picture.

Best picture, mostly due to his paisley tie and criss-cross shirt combination.
