I think that its really weird that the three teams this board most likes to talk about all have made the sweet 16....
No wonder the State of Illinois went oh for in NCAA invites. Well, U of I is hardly starving for talent, they've been starving for something else evidently.
IU is done at this point. Been saying all year, their guards are not good and today showed that again. Hulls is brutal as a point guard with Jones out for the year. 1 assist to 5 turnovers. Kentucky will destroy them and turn them over without Jones. It's over for them. They went two games farther than I thought.
The only downside to today was Vandy and VCU choking away wins. I want Wisconsin to lose next week, but I really hope Kentucky destroys Indiana. I will always hate Crean for disrespecting MU and thinking we're second rate. He stabbed us in the back and then pissed on us. FU Tom!
I expected a joke after the subject line. The thread was disappointing.

Move on. Indiana is one of the premier programs in the country historically. I'd rather have a coach leave for Indiana then Tennessee or to become an Assistant Coach with the Bucks. At least he left MU to take one of the top 5 programs ever. If Buzz leaves, and they all do, I would want him to leave for a program like UNC, Duke, UCLA, Indiana or Kentucky.
It's not that he left MU for Indiana ... it's how he left. Lost all respect dfor the guy (and I did have a healthy respect for him).
Wrong there chicoloop... Indiana is not a top 5 program. Remove IU and insert Kansas and u will have ur top 5

Stabbing MU in the back and pissing on us would have been TC leaving for IU in 2005. At least the guy stuck around long enough to get a suitable successor in place.
Boy... some people wouldn't recognize a gift if it was bashed repeatedly against their forehead.
Im sorry, Buzz will never leave the way Crean left. If Buzz leaves, our players will never hear about it from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's beat writer the way Wes did. That's what burns about Crean's departure... not that he left, but how he left.

Yeah, funny in so many ways. If he left in 2003 as he could have. No Buzz and another coach leaving MU for a stepping stone job. Nine years, good stuff, great players, awesome memories and left us with a guy named Buzz Williams.
Dimes, Kansas has three NCAA titles. Indiana has five. I would have KU 6th, either way you're splitting hairs. They are the blue bloods of college basketball. Top 5, top 6, all the same. An exclusive club where the opportunity to coach one of those programs comes once in a lifetime.

In today's media age, never say never. If I recall, the news leaked from IU before Crean got back. There was a story on ESPN during the NBA trades on Thursday where a GM said the trade was done and 4 minutes later it was on the crawl on ESPN before he could even call the players to tell there was a trade. Might have been one of the Laker or Rockets trades. Tough to contain those stories in today's world.
Who the heck cares how he left... You don't whine about your fat ex-girlfriend who broke up with you, you be happy she did because you ended up with someone 100x better.
At this point, continuing to cry about Crean's departure is tantamount to wishing you had him instead of Buzz right now. If you do, may God have mercy on your soul.
Quote of the night from a fellow mu grad living in Phoenix tonight.
"Was at the biggest St. Patty's Party in phx and did 2 things. 1. turn on the MU game. 2. Told a wisonsin fan to go find another tv."
Good stuff
My feelings. I generally root against Wisconsin, except for when they play IU. As much as I would like to see IU lose, I will be elaleted, if they send Kentucky home. I do thing Kentucky is going to win by 20.

That's a wonderful fairy tale to tell yourself but it's shrouded in lunacy.
Crean gave Marquette Buzz. For that, any Crean hater should be thankful.
I had Indiana in the S16. Crean is a very good coach.

If u think iu in any way shape or form compares in tradition n program to KU, the u r 1. Alone in that and 2. As stupid as ur friend chico
Only 3 natl titles what a joke !!! The only objective # kansas does not dwarf iu in.. U learn that stupid reasoning from chica?

Green beer left over on Sunday morning? Could you try again in English?
Why are you always so bombastic? It's an opinion, and I'm not alone in it. There will be others that say KU is better. Why the anger? Top 5, top 6 all-time - doesn't matter. When you talk of the Blue Blood programs they are there. Do you think they aren't? It is not worth arguing about. If it makes you feel better, drp them to 6th. They are still going to make THE LIST of top programs of all time. They are in the club and the only programs that are within sniffing distance are Louisville, UCONN, Michigan State and Arizona, but they have a way to go.
UCLA
Kentucky
North Carolina
Duke
Indiana
Kansas
Put them in whatever order you like, that is the blueblood list. Unless you disagree, then I'm sure you will call me or anyone that disagrees with you stupid or other pleasantries. ::)
oh great, Chicos vs MR HAYWARD all over again. Shoot me in the face.

In hindsight, that is something for which I've become very thankful. However, at the time of the departure, it felt as though we got smashed in the backside by a two-by-four. To borrow from Pat Forde's column (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=3324733&sportCat=ncb) around the hire:
QuoteCrean might have felt he had taken Marquette as far as it can go. He got the Golden Eagles to the 2003 Final Four with the considerable help of Dwyane Wade -- but that was before they joined the murderous Big East. Since then, he has won 20 games for three straight seasons, which is quite impressive, but sustaining that will never be easy in a 16-team meat grinder.
In the Big Ten, a different school has won the regular-season league title three years in a row, and five schools have won or shared a title in the past eight years. Upward mobility is easier. And Crean knows the league from his days as a Tom Izzo assistant at Michigan State.
...
Perhaps it was simply time. Crean has been happy at Marquette for nine years, but he's also an ultra-ambitious young coach who always saw himself at a Cadillac job one day.
He would have taken the Kentucky job last year, had it been offered. Maybe missing out on that job prompted him to strike while the opportunity existed this time around.
Comments like that really hurt back in '08, especially given the love and adoration so many gave to Crean.
But in the end... we wound up with a coach who has been able to sustain success in the "meat grinder" known as the Big East. No complaints here about that!
Crean got it into his head he couldn't recruit to MU. Buzz is a humble, grateful guy. He is a much better strategic recruiter.
We're better off. Let it go.

Amen to that. GET OVER IT and stop sounding like you're still bitter about the girl who broke up with you over 4 years ago.
We are in the Sweet 16 for the 2nd consecutive year and we continue to argue over Crean? He is gone, Buzz is here. Damn happy with Buzz. I wish we could end these debates, they just regurgitate the same old every time.
Things have worked out great and I'm very happy Buzz is our coach. We're much better off with Buzz in every way and we're damn lucky to have him. I get that. But every time Crean shows up on national TV and starts running his mouth, I cringe. Just an involuntary reaction. Doesn't mean I wish he was still here; I absolutely do not!
I just find it annoying that the arrogant prick in Bloomington wasn't satisfied having Al McGuire's old job. Not big time enough for him. I'm glad he's gone. But being the vindictive sort, I was hoping Crean would fail and get fired by Indiana. Guy just rubs me the wrong way.

Were you equally annoyed when Rick Majerus wasn't satisfied with Al McGuire's old job? When Kevin O'Neill wasn't satisfied with Al's old job? Those guys gave us 3 and 5 years in Al's old job. Think about it.

It wasn't Rick who wasn't satisfied. He was able to screw MU by choosing his time to leave.

He left Marquette for the Asst job of the Bucks because he wasn't satisfied as the head coach at MU.
Actually, his buddy Don Nelson bailed his ass out before he got canned. Took an asst. coaching job that paid less than MU.
