Title: How big was Junior's game?
Post by: Lighthouse 84 on March 17, 2012, 06:39:21 PM
Junior played very well. Distributed the ball well, shot decently and made free throws at the end.  Didn't turn it over that much either.

His numbers weren't huge, but his heart and will to win were MASSIVE. Jae and Junior looking like Warriors out there. I ain't mad.

He deserves a ton of credit for this one.  Steady defensively keeping in front of Canaan, protected the ball, took what they gave him.

I was flat out stunned with how well he played against Canaan. Held him in check all day. Props.

Kudos to Todd for good D, 4 key Rs and what, 8 points? One bad shot but hey he was there when needed, like Dae.

Shocked, shocked, that the guy I have on ignore (hint: 85) has disappeared this evening.   Junior was the freaking man.

I at times give rough unfair personal attacks to this cat, but I will give credit where credit is due.  Nice job young man, you were a true warrior today!

This seems to be an annual thing junior had an outstanding game during the tourney last year and has yet again this year

Thanks junior.

BTW, Buzz in the post game presser regarding Junior said something like, "You guys who think we need a new point guard.  You don't think these kids read that?..."

Basically, he was crediting Junior with the victory, even though he had a lousy game in the BET you can't write him off.

I've been a Junior critic, but he played like a man today. Really impressed

I'm so happy for Junior. Its kind of amazing to me that he took so much slack on this board when he's had a historically good season as a PG. After today's game, he's now had a top 10 all-time assist season.

37 minutes
8 points
4 assists
3 rebounds
1 turnover  (nice.....)

He played Cannon on defense, when everyone thought Vander would.  Cannon shot 4 for 17 from the field.

what amazed me was Buzz couldn't take junior off the court for defensive reasons...anyone wishing mu wouldn't have played junior as a freshman...damn we'd look good in 2013-2014

The couple of times he knifed to the hoop for buckets were in huge spots too. Nice game Junior.

He absolutely killed MSU when MU set him up top left and then going right off the high screen.  When he cut to the hoop on those plays it looked like he was going about 90 mph.  Unstoppable.  Got a few finger rolls, and I remember at least one layup for Jae off that.

No one's perfect, but he played darn near perfect today.

Been trying to find a cool Jane-Finch T-shirt for 2 years now.  Don't think one exists.

Buzz referenced in his post game presser the slagging Junior got.   Mentioned how quickly how many MU fans jumped off of the wagon after the Louisville game.   He, or somebody close to him, reads these boards.    Remember that when you start posting crap.

he or someone close to him believes that if a kid doesn't have a chip on his shoulders one should be put there...my guess is he doesn't need to read these boards to make the comment he made about junior.

if buzz ever starts making decisions based upon message board posts i'd be worried about the future of mu basketball.

I think you might be onto something! Last trip to the Yum center Buzz took a lot of slagging for his poor use of timeouts. Today the one he called at 8:00 was pure coaching genius. Proof that he (or someone close to him) reads this board!

Today he called out that "slagging" and "crap" as the motivation to improve Junior.  Who knows--without all the crap here, Junior would have had another 8 turnover performance.

Stick with the endless pointless debates 84.  Humor is not your strong suit.

I was very critical of him a couple weeks ago, but this crow tastes good. He played a helluva game.

Thought Junior played like a boss today, managed the game on offense and played fantastic defense on a very good player(Canaan).  As much as this team succeeds on the shoulders of DJO and Jae, Junior is the guy the runs the offense and creates the some of the opportunities for our scorers(particularly for Jae).

If Junior plays like he did today, we are a tough out in this tournament.
