You mean 5-1 for the Big Ten right?
If you are counting Cal's loss in the "First Round" to put the Pac 12 at 1-1, then you should also count USF's win. BE is 7-3 in that scenario. Otherwise, Big East is 6-3, but the Pac 12 is 1-0.
Sorry guys. That first round is burning me. Fixed the records.

+100 ... Let's go back to a real 1st round.
Big loss by ND for our conference when u look at the next round and see they could have easily made the s 16
Screw the conference. Love seeing ND lose anytime to anybody anywhere!
Especially when they really want to win.
What a fraud of a team.
Bump. Updated after third round.
- Big Ten looking very, very good.
- Big Twelve looking overrated.
- Big East looking pretty good despite having somewhat down year.
- State of Ohio: Wow. Just wow.
Old Conf USA members of the BEast.... 3 - in sweet 16.

Big Ten has been the best league all year long. This should not be surprising. The Boilers blew it tonight. We had KU. Conference should be 10-1 right now. This one hurts only because we led most of the game. KU is the better team but tonight we had them. Disappointing.

Almost 4, if not for USF letting it slip away. 8 of the Big East's 11 wins came from C-USA teams.

Big Ten should be 10-1? Why? They lost. Many times. Solid conference, absolutely. I grew up an Illinois fan. Loved going to the B10 tournament. But, best this year? Eh. You were wrong about your 8-9 Big 10 (+2) prediction, and for whatever reasons you blame the "process" (which, from what I understand, is what you do when you don't like the ultimate choice but are too scared to throw your weight behind the final choice, so you pretend you are upset about ancillary issues...and also, claim you were cool with it all alone along) and continue to shrug it off. And that's fine. To most MU folks (fans, message board posters, casual observers, etc.) I (we) have no issue with you liking or disliking someone or something (that being those in charge of MU basketball).
But as a lurker who rarely posts, I'm just so tired of your dishonesty. You claim you don't care about IU basketball (as a Purdue fan), yet you fall all over yourself to defend Crean and IU to anyone who criticizes them. And you know what? That's fine. I take no issue with you respecting Crean and the job he did at our alma mater. But c'mon, folks like 4ever and PRN and others seriously dislike Crean. I'm not defending their opinions at all; however, I've accepted they exist. 'Tis life. Neither you or I are going to change their opinions. But you say you don't care and then jump to Tom Crean's defense every chance you get. Obviously, you do care. And that's cool. I just think those of us who are indifferent wish you would at least be honest about it.
You've made passive aggressive swipes at Buzz multiple times this year, even doing so in an effort to protect Crean (I'm sure you'll ask me where, so I'll just say you pointed out Buzz's loss to ND in an effort to make Crean look good. Which, as I've said, is fine. But at least stop pretending you love Buzz and are indifferent about Indiana. You constantly defend Crean, even if it causes you to criticize the current MU coach. Please, admit you will protect Crean every chance you get). As I've said, I have no issue with that. I think it's important that folks are allowed to express their opinions.
Finally, I don't know/care about the whole chicos/hoopaloop doppelganger issue, but it blew my mind that folks have mentioned his posting history on here, and then you've relayed his entire itinerary for super bowl weekend as well as his hairline and then accused others of being obsessed. It astounds me to the point that I still assume I've misread you calling out Lenny's Tap (whom I've never met) and then informing folks about whether or not Chico's was planning on attending the ND-MU game. Amazing.
And let's not overlook the absolute flop by mid-majors this tournament. Of of the 16 teams remaining, 14 are from "power" conferences. The only others left are Ohio and Xavier, neither of which had to face a single digit seed in the round of 32.

It's the old Even Steven adage. Wisconsin & Indiana are in the S16 because VCU & Vanderbilt lierally chucked their way out of a win. Purdue just returned the favor.
oh boy...
\gets popcorn ready
While the Big Ten was the best conference this year, our 11 wins are impressive, and we could still steal the "best conference in the tournament." As I mentioned on cracked sidewalks yesterday, based on seeds and giving team's 50% chance of winning the play-in/new round 1, base on seeds we would have been expected to win 12 games in the tournament and the Big Ten would have been expected to win 11 games.
So we just need one win before we start to exceed how good teh commmittee thought we were, and the Big Ten would be expected to win 11, so they need two more.
Small Orange Soda,
Your powers of observation are keen, your analysis dead on and well expressed. For that the original passive aggressive one would have derisively called you Dr Orange or some such thing rather than taking a look in the mirror. Hopefully his disciple is a bit more self refective.

Good point. I heard all year from ESPN analysts that the PAC-12 was down but the slack was taken up by the WCC, Big West, and WMC. Um... no. Those four conferences have a terrible record in the tournament with nary a Sweet Sixteen team.
Mid Majors had a nice year last year. It is just the opposite this year.
Also, it's not like Xavier is the typical mid-major. They are at worst a high mid-major. I compare them to Gonzaga. They are a high major in a mid-major conference.
Xavier also played worse seeds than MU did to get to the Sweet 16. We played a 14 and 6, Xavier played a 7 and 15.

The extent with which the charade has been played out is mind boggling. I think he's probably got a chart with screen names and fictional biographies (Purdue grad, receding hairline, lives in Chicago vs. Indiana grad, transferred to California, etc) and who knows how many screen names? It's really somewhat disturbing if you think about it.
BUMP. Conference standings updated through Elite Eight games. Big Twelve looking better with Kansas & Baylor doing well.
Who gives a chit?
