Title: CBS MMOD?
Post by: Mayor McCheese on March 14, 2012, 11:20:32 PM
Are they doing this again this year?  Just wondering where I can find the games to stream while at work tomorrow.

We Are Marquette.

To be clear, you do not have to pay to stream games (legally). CBS.com will be streaming all the games the network is broadcasting for free - meaning MU-BYU among others. The other networks you can stream for free by "authenticating" using your cable provider's login info. It's basically designed to allow anyone who gets the channels broadcasting all the games to watch for free, and allow people who don't get cable to watch for a relatively small fee. Bottom line: if you get cable you won't have to pay, unless you want to stream on your iPhone so you can watch in the pooper.

Here's the best resource about watching online and on smartphones: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/richard_deitsch/03/12/NCAA.Viewers.Guide/index.html

Wow, I am confused.

So, I am at work, and I have a smart phone (Android with US Cellular, if it matters). Marquette's game is on actual CBS.

I have no cable or television package whatsoever. (I also commute to work using a horse and buggy.)

Will I be able to stream over my phone?

For $3.99 and the time it takes for you to download and install the NCAA MM LIVE App...

No cable and US cellular? Sounds like a frustrating existence.

As long as you have MUScoop as your source for fair and unbiased information and facts, you're set.

Text the word 0MARQUETTE to 2653 and you will get free access to all of the MMOD streaming on all devices. Coke is putting on a promotion to give access away. I'm not sure if you can still do it - I did it two weeks ago - but they gave me an access code and I didn't have to pay.

Pay the $3.99.  You can watch any game on any and as many computers, mobile devices, iPads, etc. that you have.

Seriously... I get the whole free thing, but if four dollars is too much for the convenience and reliability, then find a McDonald's that will let you cook fries for an hour.

EDIT: Please don't ask for my password... I'm sure at some point the number of devices using a single login sets off a flag somewhere.

No kidding, and it's not even $3.99/day - it's the whole damn tourney!  I think I payed nearly $20 for the single game craptastic stream of the paradise jam.

For what it's worth, I looked into this and the promotion is legit. Moreover, it still worked! I've got free access online and on iPhone now. Chuncken, well done sir.

MMOD is not loading for me now. I was getting the feed, then when I switched to the S Miss/KSU game, it continues to get stuck at 90% Anyone else having this problem?

They texted me that there are no more access codes. Are they one time use only, or can multiple users use the same code?

watching it free online at work, it occasionally displays "video not available now please check back" but a quick refresh and it usually resumes right away
