Title: Jae Crowder: NBA Comparison
Post by: MerrittsMustache on March 08, 2012, 09:31:20 AM
This past weekend, a couple friends and I were trying to figure out what current NBA player Jae Crowder could be compared to at that level. We initially started with a poor man's Shane Battier but eventually decided that the best comparison would be Jared Dudley. They're about the same size, they're smart, hard-working tweeners, they can shoot from the outside, they can guard multiple positions and neither is overly athletic by NBA standards. Just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts or a better comparison.

(I apologize if this has been discussed on a different thread)

From Wikipedia:

"After his senior season, Dudley was voted the ACC Player of the Year for 2007 and was a second team All-American"

"In his college days he earned the nickname "Junkyard Dog" for his toughness and nose for the ball."

Sounds right on the money!

Let's hope this comes to fruition as well:

"On June 28, 2007, Dudley was taken 22nd overall in the NBA Draft"

Hey, how about a former JUCO player of the year...6'6" tweener who lasted 11 seasons in the NBA.  Larry Johnson.

Just kidding.  Johnson was way more athletic.  (But Jae is a better distance shooter!!)  Dudley is a pretty good comparison.

Yeah never really thought about that, Dudley is probably as close of a comparison as you will find.
