Found this interesting nugget of information at work... http://www.qsrmagazine.com/charitable-giving/burger-boys?page=2
"Since the first team was named, a McDonald's All-American has been on the roster of all but one men's NCAA championship team."
Maryland 2002 team is that team.
Here's hoping we can make it 2. Though looking ahead, our best shots right now are probably in our back yard. I thought Steve Taylor might get picked since the game is being held in Chicago and he was the top player in Illinois. Now I'm guessing our best chance is Deonte Burton, and then possibly someone out of the 2014 or 2015 (Diamond Stone?) classes.
From a raw talent perspective, Buzz is getting great guys, but he's also getting some highly rated recruits. Vander may not have made the McD's team, but he did play for Team USA. Might Juan have garnered more serious attention if he played closer to the East Coast than the West? And might Steve Taylor (he was a finalist) still get the call if someone bows out due to injury?
We may not have them yet, and we may have the rep of being JUCO U, but I have a feeling that Buzz isn't that far from getting some truly elite recruits, and a Final Four season this year would go a long way toward that.
If McDonald AAs are the secret sauce, then I'll put my money on Villanova, they have three of them!
guess i'll pick us to lose in the final four then. Still a good run.

The last two years the championship game loser (Butler) had no McDonalds AA. Would we complain that loudly if we went that far?
