I was googling Earl Tatum to create his wiki page .. and noticed he had an entry in IMDB.com .. turns out there's a movie, "4 Square Miles to Glory" coming out Feb 2008. The plot "Documentary honoring Mount Vernon, New York, about the neighborhood assembly line of prized NBA and College players. "
So, not only does Tatum appear, but also Maurice Lucas, both natives.
Go figure.

That is pretty remarkable. Reminds me of that Dominica Republic village that has produced over twenty major league short stops.
Perhaps Lucas moved from there but he was from Pittsburgh when he was recruited to MU. I am sure the McCray (Louisville) brothers will be prominent in the film.

BTW, Maurice Lucas is from Pittsburgh - not Mt Vernon.
Here's a good article about Mt Vernon's legacy
