Is it possible for a top-10 team to fly under the radar? Because, if you ask me, Marquette -- this week's No. 7 squad -- most certainly is. Or, at the very least, it was. But if the Golden Eagles finish their excellent Big East run with two more wins (they go to Cincinnati and finish at home vs. Georgetown this week), and Jae Crowder or Darius Johnson-Odom (or both) pick up some suddenly expected individual hardware, Buzz Williams' once-quiet outfit will be getting plenty of close looks in advance of the NCAA tournament. What a season in Milwaukee.
Before reading this, the same thought crossed my mind. MU "flies under the radar" at #7 in the polls. I just hope MU doesn't "fly under the radar" with the selection committee. 3 more wins and a 2 seed looks pretty compelling, especially if one of those is Georgetown on senior night.
For those of you who are old enough, the way people are starting to talk about us reminds of the way people used to talk about Joe Rudi of the Oakland A's in the early 70's. Every time you heard that guy's name, it would be followed by "great player, never gets any ink, no one talks about him..." except you heard about his lack of attention CONSTANTLY. He got a lot of ink for not getting a lot of ink. Seems we're getting a lot of that weird attention now. Lots of stuff like "A team noboody's been talking about...", "A team who is quietly having a great season is..."
