they just put it up during the Gtown/ND game...Sean went with Kevin Jones. How quickly it went from DJO to Jae.
Raftery and Bilas just picked Jae as BE POY.
On the GU/ND "Big Monday" Broadcast Rafferty and Bilas picked Jae Crowder as BE POY. McDonough picked Kevin Jones (WVU).
McDonough criticism was that Crowder might not be the best player on his own team (DJO). Bilas and Rafferty agreed but still picked Crowder.
The problem is that DJO and Jae will split the "Marquette vote" and leave WVU's Kevin Jones with the award. Jones is a good player and seems like a nice kid, but Jae owned him the other night. There is no way after that head-to-head battle and Jae's team emerging victorious that Jae shouldn't get the award.
Who gets the vote and when?
Jae definitely the best all-around player on the team.
DJO has the ball more so he can "take over" games, as he has done a couple of times when we really needed him.
Both very valuable, of course. And yes, they will split the vote.
They all picked Jim Boeheim for COY.

The coaches. They vote before the conference tournament. They also cannot vote for their own players. Buzz has already said his vote is for Jones. I think it's helpful to have the coaches voting vs. the media...having played against us and watched the games, probably been the victim of the few of those SOTG performances, I think the coaches vote would swing toward Crowder and less toward DJO so it won't be as split.

That's a solid by Buzz. But a vote for Kevin Jones is a vote AGAINST DJO or Jae. Buzz should vote for DePaul's walk on.
Kevin Jones = Aaron Rodgers
Jae Crowder = Drew Brees
DJO = Tom Brady
Kevin jones has been great for the whole season. Crowder hhas even outstanding at the end of the year, and DJO is in the conversation.
All of that said, if I had a vote it would go to Crowder (in fairness, I have loved the guy since he got here).

Rodgers' team beat Brees' team head to head. Rodgers' team finished with a better record than Brees' team.
Jae's team beat Jones' team head to head. Jae's team finished with a better recoerd than Jones' team.
Rodgers won the MVP over Brees. Jae wins the MVP (POY) over Jones!!!

It's a good thing the Packer defense made the play at the end of that 1st game! ;)

Forget all that. Who's Eli Manning?
Rodgers won because his team was 15-1 and he played great. If Bree's had been 15-1 he would have won.
Jones is team is fighting to get to .500 in the league.
Big difference.
Better late then never for those guys to come around.
Not sure how anyone who has watched MU play all year could come to the conclusion that Jae "might not be his teams best player".

If Jones' team were second place in the Big East he would win. But they are not, so he shouldn't
I don't think he was in the discussion too seriously, but Cooley played himself out tonight. What a line: 2 points/ZERO rebounds/ 4 personal fouls.
With his RPG taking a hit, looks like Jones will hold on to his lead the In that stat.
"Buzz should vote for DePaul's walk on."
LOL. I agree

NFL has an MVP. Big East has a POY. Subtle but very real difference to voters. The latter suggests "best player regardless of team results." The former almost demands team results get considered.

Vander.
Oddly enough, Eli was lambasting in New York last year for refusing to slap fives with Lawrence Tynes.
