Title: Miracle becomes commonplace
Post by: tower912 on February 25, 2012, 08:55:59 AM
So, Buzz sits starters in the first half, they come out a little slow in the second half and suddenly MU is down 15...on the road....against a Huggins-coached team.....in one of the most hostile environments in college hoops......against a team fighting for its NCAA life......and all I can think is.....

Here come's the comeback.

This team has done it so many times this year that I never once yelled at the TV, never once got up and paced.    There was never a doubt in my mind (until the FT misses started piling up at the end) that MU was going to pull it out.   I EXPECT MU to overcome 15 pt second half deficits on the road.   How many fanbases can say they expect their team to do that?     Remarkable.

I was thinking the same thing.

There were two things that somewhat tempered my confidence.....Crowder's FT shooting, and DJO's bonehead drive to the basket.  However, Blue at the FT line compensated.

Good teams just find ways to win these kind of games.

It's no more complicated than that. It is a truism that is consistent through all of team sports. Good teams find a way to win. Lesser teams do not. It's as simply as that.

when there was 17 minutes left, coming back from a stoppage, i turned to my buddy (cuse fan) and simply said I'm not worried at all. It's amazing to not be worried

Most good teams are not in this position SO OFTEN.  That said, we can't and don't have any reason to hang our heads.  We overcome.  Shore up the slow starts and we are second to none.

So often?  This is only the 4th game this year decided by a single possession...and we won three of them.  Lost @ georgetown, beat Norfolk St. (2nd time), Washington and WVU.

Added: Oh wait, I get it.  You were probably referring to the large deficits...

Yep, those games where their 2 centers are hurt and they've suspended 4 of their best 6 remaining players and the team shoots 50% from the FT line and 19% from 3.  That happens all the time.
