I was just looking at the 2003 team and noticed some interesting connections from that year and this year. The Final Four is in New Orleans this year and it was in NO in 2003 as well. Also Marquette was a 3 seed that year and right now all signs point to Marquette being a 3 seed. I know this means nothing but I found it interesting.
Ahh crap...does this mean we're going to lose our first conference tourney game to a crappy foe like Rutgers or DePaul?
As long as we end up in New Orleans again, I'm happy...though I'm not sure the fiancee will be, I just told her that if we go to the Final Four, I'm going, costs be damned ;D
We have our best offensive big man since RJax too (Gardner). And a two and done under the radar star (Jae Crowder, yes I'm stretching here). And our current starting center saw the light and transferred back to his home state (JWilson) and is in his first year of eligibility. Looking at that picture from yesterday of the 2003 team, it looked like they only had 10 scholarship players. Without Otule and assuming Gardner comes back, we only have 10 healthy scholarship players. #1 overall seed is Kentucky at this point. If their best player gets an ankle injury right before they're seeded in our region, then the similarities will be striking. Let's just hope that if we run into Kansas again in New Orleans, we can exorcise the 2003 demons, Buzz' UNO demons, and the Tyshawn Taylor demons all at once!
This has Lincoln/Kennedy history repeating itself written all over it!
GIVE ME KENTUCKY
Fock! Kansas upcoming.

Exorcise the demons indeed!! Go Warriors 8-)
Does this mean our coach is going to crap the bed in the NCAA tournament during what was supposed to be MU's finest hour?
I was sifting around on kenpom today. MU's final ranking that year was 16 according to that metric. kenpom currently has MU at 16...
Nutso. Butso.

I'd be happy to see Buzz crap the bed if it means he doesn't crap the bed beating the champion from the Big East, SEC, and knocking off three straight ranked teams to get there. The way we shot that game, there were many crappings of the bed but consider the week prior as we dismantled #1 Kentucky in what was then our finest hour in four decades. Victory. It's all how you view life.

Here's hoping he's currently out shopping for a tie that goes down to his ankles. ;)
