To the uninitiated, one of the better sites I've found for bracketology is the Bracket Matrix. The site compiles bracket predictions from across the internet (currently has 82 different brackets), and includes picks ranging from the "experts" (Lunardi, Palm, etc) to no-talent hacks like myself (1977 link on the site). Link is below:

If any one has found a better compilation of brackets than this one, please share.
Also has Cracked Sidewalks on there ;)
There has been a link to this site in the "Resources" menu on MUSCOOP for a while (Resources-> Bracket Predictions).
But yes, its a great site to compile the average seeding of a team. Looks like we are consensus 3 seed and only a few spots away from a 2.
Getting a 2 just requires us to keep winning. If we win our last three regular season games and at least 1-2 games in the BE Tourney, we will have a good chance at a 2, simply because there will be attrition from other teams currently on the 2-line. I think that if we lose no more than 1 game, we get a 2-seed, provided that loss is to Georgetown (either Senior Day or in the BET) or Syracuse (BET).
The problem is that most Big East teams have taken a step back. Other than Notre Dame, most seeds are slipping. We'll get our share of teams (8-10) but most of them at this point are looking like 7-13 seeds.
Once you get to a 3-seed, it's very difficult to move up. Either someone has to really slip up (i.e lose at least 2 games down the stretch) or you have to go on a tear. Like brewcity said, we pretty much have to run the table to leap-frog someone above us.
I don't see us moving to a 2 seed unless we win out and win the BE tourney. Barring a monumental breakdown these next few days, a 3 seed seems like our best bet. 4 at absolute worst.

Man would that be fantastic if we just get a three seed. Playing a fourteen seed in the first round really makes a difference versus a 12/13, which are upset specials. In the next round, not sure a six seed is that big of difference versus a 4/5. But, as many pointed out here before, avoiding a one seed in the Sweet Sixteen is paramount. We would have a legitimate chance to get to the Elite Eight.
The only thing I don't like is there are a lot of potential two seeds who could be playing close to home in the Regional rounds. Kansas or Mizzou could be playing in St. Louis. We all know one of Duke or North Carolina will be playing in Atlanta if they advance. Syracuse could be in Boston (hopefully Cuse will be a one seed so would not have to worry until Regional Final). Almost better to be in Phoenix this year since there are not dominate west coast teams.
LOVE that link. Thanks for providing it!

If we're a three seed we probably won't have to worry about Cuse, since the top three seeds from each conference get seeded in different regionals (at least I'm 99% sure that's how it works). I agree on being fine with going out west - I'd almost prefer it if they stick us with teams from out there.

Very interesting perspective, and could be a great reason to hope for the 2-seed in the West. Syracuse will almost certainly get the 1-seed in the East, Kentucky will most likely get the 1-seed in the Southeast. I think St. Louis will go to the Big 12 champs, and the West is up for grabs, but we're actually closer to Phoenix than many of the teams we'll be competing with (tOSU, MSU, UNC). I'd guess that Duke or UNC will get the 1-seed in the West, with the other getting the 2 in the Southeast.
Other than Baylor, that would pretty much give us a good shot at the West being mostly neutral, possibly a bit pro-Marquette since there are a lot of Wisconsin transplants in Arizona.
Selfishly, I'd prefer we play in the St. Louis regional since that's the only regional site I signed up to get tickets for in case we play there!

I'm hoping we play in Nashville in the first round. I've got boatloads of ticket opportunities there if we do. Besides, we have to make up for that Vanderbilt fiasco.

Not to mention that MU fans would show up in droves in St Looey.

Yes, but we will be easily "outdroved" (yes, made up a word there) if we play either Mizzou or Kansas in St. Looey.
actually the scenarios to over take te two seeds are plentiful

Agreed. Its not impossible at all. We have to keep winning (I still think we could lose the BEAST tournament championship to Cuse and get a 2, but we have to win every other game).
And we need help. According to the matrix, we are the highest 3 seed. A regular season loss, and failing to win their tourny championship from one of the 2 lower 2 seeds might be enough.
We certainly need help. But it could happen.
At the end of the day, I don't think there's a major difference between a 2-seed and a 3-seed. I don't cringe at the thought of playing a 6-seed in the second round, nor do I jump for joy at the thought of playing a 7-seed in the second round. What's most important, which has been mentioned already, is not having to potentially play a 1-seed until the Elite 8.

Which means that 1-seed has already had the opportunity to be knocked off twice. There are some good teams among the 8/9 and 4/5 seed lines.
