Title: WV is a very young team...
Post by: denverMU on February 23, 2012, 11:58:04 AM
9 Freshmen, 0 Soph, 2 Juniors, and 2 Seniors.  Starting 2 fr, 1 jr, and 2 sr.  No wonder ND can hold them to 16 points in the 2nd half.  Having said that, beating them at home, will require our complete focus.

They can't score, clearly.  It's pretty much Kelicli, Jones and Bryant against us.  Kelilcli is prone to foul trouble, and we've proven proficient at drawings fouls on opposing bigs.  As long as Bryant isn't hitting threes, I think we'll be fine.

Have to watch for Kilicli's windmill hook.  Ugly, but effective.

Watch for his bull move to the hoop, too.

Also, they have Kevin Jones!

This is why I really hope Gardner can go tomorrow. He's great at getting fouls on opposing bigs, and could be huge in offense/defense switches. Even if he only got 8-12 minutes, I could see him drawing 4-5 fouls in that time on the WVU post players.

Buzz noted on the TV show last night that DG is still rehabbing has not practiced yet.  Seriously doubt we'll see him in uniform tomorrow night w/o any practice time.

According to big daddy (our resident DG injury source), he's supposed to try and practice today.  If there are no setbacks, hopefully he at least suits up to get back in the flow a little bit.

Despite what BigDaddy said, I don't expect to see him tomorrow. He still had a bit of a limp last night. If he did play a few minutes, however, that would be huge.

Didn't Davante always have a bit of a limp when walking?  Maybe more of a sway?

Not a problem, just get him in the stomach when he's stunned:

Bryant is the key to the game. When he's on, WV is tough to beat. Furthermore, when he gets going, he becomes extremely difficult to guard because he will hit shots even with defenders all over him.

For the most part this season, he has been either been really good or really bad.

Exactly. Hes a much worse version of the famous Bryant. He will shoot them out of just as many games as he shoots them into. He's not one to realize hes 0-5 and its not his night.......he will shot 9 more times no matter what.

Has Marquette ever beaten West Virginia in Morgantown? That place will be hopping for the Friday night game.

Todd Mayo will have a lot of emotion involving this game.  I hope he can channel it and play within the flow.

Good point.  Will be interesting to see how he reacts to a hometown game.  Some guys thrive, others shrivel.

Not since we have been in the BE, thanks to DeSean Butler hitting hilarious game winning shots.

We have nine players who can play:
2 seniors
1 junior
3 sophomores
3 freshmen

Not that much difference, I sure most of their freshmen do not play.

No not that much, just 3 times more freshmen and 4 times more sophomores.  OBTW we have 4 sophomores and 2 juniors.

I said players that can play. Right now Gardner is not playing, so I did not include him. I also did not count Otule for that same reason. It still comes down both teams having two seniors, West Virginia's seniors have final four experience. Over all West Virginia is younger However, what I was trying to point out is that MU also is a young team and there is not that much difference.
