Title: Tonight
Post by: jesmu84 on February 22, 2012, 08:56:25 AM
We want...

1) Marquette win (duh)
2) Syracuse win/USF Loss
3) WV win/ND loss

those are the most helpful outcomes for us, right?

4) NCCU win/IU loss (sorry, couldn't help myself)

Yep.  Unless we want to hold out hope that Cuse loses at UConn or vs. Louisville to get the share of the regular season championship, both for a chance at it outright.  I'd say #1, #3, #2, #4 in that order.

Not sure why you wouldn't root for south florida over syracuse.  We have a one game lead and the tiebreaker over USF.  They'd have to win out or go 3-1 (highly unlikely) and we'd have to go 2-2 or 1-3 for them to pass us.  I understand wanting Louisville as the 5 seed so they are on the other side of the bracket if we end up as the 2 or 3 seed.  But I want a share of the Big East title, so I'm gonna root for that.

We'd need to win out and have Cuse lose both @ UConn and v Louisville...I think at this point, it's best to write off sharing the regular season title. At least for a week. If it happens that on Sunday morning we are 13-3 and Syracuse is 15-2, we can start dreaming. But before then it's really a bit premature.

I just want Louisville to finish 5th and us not to be 4th. The Cardinals and the Orange are the only two teams that unnerve me at all at MSG.

Looking at USF's remaining schedule I would be shocked if they beat us for the bye, especially with the head-to-head win over them.  Can't cheer for a defector.... GO BULLS!

Not to overlook Rutgers, because every BEAST team is tough, but I do think we win tonight and there is not a chance Buzz allows the team to overlook them. Friday at WV will be even tougher, but we are on such a roll we could win that also - likely to be very close at the end.

Then comes Sunday. UW at OSU. Will this board turn into Badger backers so that we can be looking at a 2 seed?

Just win tonight.  Then we have a tough game on Friday that I'd be very happy to win.  The Friday game, with one day between games for travel, is going to be a nice win if we can pull it off. WV is good enough to win any day of the week, and with the one day off between games, it makes it a tough road game.  I'd be thrilled if we can win both.

Besides us winning the next two, I don't really care what other teams do.

That's why I'm rooting for USF tonight.  You'd only need UConn OR Ville to beat Cuse then if we win out.

Well, if it happens, I'm not sure how I'd react. Would it be dancing a jig, or just falling down as I collapse in laughter?

I think Syracuse wins by 25+. But if not...hey, I'll take it. We keep winning, USF can't catch us anyway.

Not saying it'll happen, just saying I'm rooting for it.

Yes, it is a road game for us, but West Va only has one day off as well.  Just sayin'

Did Syracuse suddenly pledge loyalty to the Big East? Seriously we are rooting against the Bulls? Let's not worry about NOT finishing 4th and up, and root for 1st. F*** Cuse, haven't rooted for them all year.

Not a snowballs chance in hell I would EVER cheer for that school.  F*ckin hate everything about that place.

I can't not root for upsets.  But whomever wins that game, I'll be happy :)

I hate Bucky, but if they beat tOSU in Columbus, I'd be happy. That'd give them a shot at finishing 2nd in the Big Ten and as a top-15 RPI team and would be a nice boost to our already stellar resume. It would also almost certainly push us past tOSU on the S-Curve ahead of schedule and give us a good chance at a 2-seed if we win out and at least make the Big East semis.

And if Bucky loses...I'll be happy, because I'm always happy when Bucky loses. It's a win-win!

Brew and Skatas, I see your points of view.  I should really work on seeing the glass as half full instead of half empty.   ;)
