That didn't count?
-
The nets at DPU suck, that's all.
-
No. Has to clear the bottom of net.
-
No. Has to clear the bottom of net.
The net is there to make it easier to determine if the ball went THROUGH the cylinder....that's a ridiculous rule and needs to be changed.
-
Did it bounce out... It happened so fast. I thought it went through.
-
On the espn3 feed, it seemed like someone was grabbing the rim every time the ball went through the hoop. Nets must have been brand new trying to slow us down.
-
Never made it out. It was as if the bottom of the net was a rubberband and shot it straight back out.
-
just like Dwight Burke's dunk in the 2007 Gtown game, Junior's best/only dunk will go down as irrelevant...
-
and then you had the BS call at the other end of the court on Wilson's block. Ball was still above the rim and not going down.
-
It was still a great move by JC to the hoop..he is getting more and more aggressive by the game... As has the team...
-
both garbage calls, but otherwise was a surprisingly well called game.
-
I was just pumped to see Junior throw one down.

Could not disagree more. This crew was very inconsistent. Started with touch fouls, turned to allowing anything and everything and then returned to touch fouls. Very poor crew, IMHO. You want consistency - whether they call it all touch (@Nova) or let everything go (@ND). Players can adapt to that.

@Nova was a horribly called game. The most obvious foul, the one resulting in DG's injury, was let go. I think there were a bunch of other calls, for example the technicals that were questionable.

Actually, the Junior dunk wasn't a garbage call at all. The refs merely enforced the rule.
I also thought Jamil's block was goaltending when I saw it in slo-mo.
There were lots of calls worse than those, but none anywhere near as bad as the no-call on which Gardner got hurt against Nova.
-
any video?

On Jamil's, ball never got above the cylinder. Bad call.
-
Never got above the cylinder and was going up.
In all fairness, at game speed it was a tough call. I had to see the replay to catch that.
-
Had to go back and look. Came back out like the net was a slingshot. Ridiculous.

I'd like to look at that again too at what time of the game was that or at what time of the ESPN3 replay is that? that is if you know.

The worst was the call on Jae with the loose ball on the floor. Cmon...he knocked out out of bounds, just give DePaul the ball there.

Not only was it a bad call, but you could tell he wanted to T Jae up after the play.

Agree with this one. The ref is signaling a blocking call with his hands on his hips.? WTF? It was a loose ball--should have been a no-call DePaul ball out of bounds.
-

Technically not a bad call, he obviously made contact, but would have been a better non call. Penalizing a hustle play when the ball went to DePaul anyway, kind of deuchy.

Yup, start watching with about 6:00 to play. There was five-something on the game clock.

Agree. The net was being a real A-hole to Junior. When a man that size dunks, it shouldn't have to go all the way through to count.
At first sight, I almost didnt even believe it was JC.
Bravo Junior... Bravo.

Props to Stone Cold, though, who in the chat said Junior was going to dunk on De Paul. When I saw him do it and with authority, I yelled and never saw the ball come back out. Reminds me of the one time I saw Butch Lee go up to dunk - against UW in a blowout. Unfortunately, he was fouled and never dunked it.

Agreed. It wasn't a bad call because Jae made contact and the ref interprets contact as he sees fit. However, Jae beat the other player to the ball, and usually the player who reaches a loose ball first is given the benefit of the doubt.
-

Like he assumed that Jae would consider it a bad call. What does that tell you? ::)
-
Wow. That thing is about 9 ft off of the ground and managed to fling itself back out. Freaky.
-
Will his career scoring total have an asterisk?
* = ball went in and mysteriously came back out, possibly due to tight net

Better question... Would his dunk have counted on the old MUScoop Dunk tracker?
-
Blue looked at Junior after the dunk (what else can you call it?) with a WTF look on his face too. It was coming right at us and I thought it was an in your face 2 pts. I don't know if Vander's look at Junior was WTF are you doing?? or WTF, did that count or not?? VB would have to tell us what he thought and if I've missed the video of that, one of you younguns doesn't need to cut and paste it and send it along with today's seniors knock.

The caption gives credit to.....Joe Belcaster #5 of the Marquette Golden Eagles

Here is the real Joe Belcaster. It is easy to see how a mistake could be made....

This one seems more legit than the previous one...blackledge is on the board with at least 1 dunk (most likely an alley-oop of sorts)

Yeah, should've been "Marquette Warriors" not "Marquette Golden Eagles" in the caption. ;D

In his Junior year, and apparently a Jr. as his dad has the same name. An easy mistake...

Any video of this?
