Title: Dropped to #23 in Pomeroy with first bad performance in 10-game stretch
Post by: bamamarquettefan on February 05, 2012, 02:58:19 AM
Well, we dropped 6 spots tonight in Pomeroy after the blow out in South Bend, going from #17 to #23 in Pomeroy.   Still, yesterday was the only bad game in the 10-game stretch for us starting with Georgetown.  Before that 10-game stretch we were #27, and while I don't believe we've looked like a Top 10 team since Otule went down, we really played these 10 games like a top 25 team every time out for 9 straight games until today.

I always feel more pressure in games like these next two – at DePaul and vs. Cincinnati – because these are games we should and have to win.  We've just got to get to 21-5 heading into that final five game stretch.

We could easily play pretty solid ball those last five games and go 1-4 or 2-3, so we can't get upset either of the next two games or the perception heading into the tournament will be that we are really falling apart just because we had tougher games down the stretch.

The 7-game win streak, only our third in Big East play (2007 went from 0-2 to 8-2, then 2009 started 9-0) has us in good shape.  Let's get well Monday night!

Agree wholeheartedly with everything here, especially needing to beat DePaul and Cinci.

I just hope Gardner is back by Cincy.  It's nice to see jamil Wilson and Jamal getting some minutes and making the most of them. Should prove beneficial in March and on into next year.

I would not put to much emphasis on Gardner's return. Dodds has been saying about three weeks. I would trust what he is saying.
