Why would you run a play for Zoeller, who had been getting abused all night by UW's bigs?  Yet your guards were beating theirs off the dribble.

BTW, I really like Ben Brust's game.  He'd fit in real nice at MU.

Yeah, I agree, but they have similar games.  Both are pretty aggressive for young players (Brust is a sophomore), and can put the ball in the basket.

Dude, check my history. I've been 100% consistently anti-Crean since the final buzzer went off in New Orleans after T-Cubed soiled his trousers on the biggest stage in college basketball.
I'd had bought him a one way bus ticket out of here years before he bolted for greener pastures.

I think Mayo is more of a dynamic scorer compared to Brust. I think Mayo gets to the basket much better than Brust, but Brust is a much better shooter. Mayo's three-point shot is starting to go in more now though. Brust can fall in love with the 25 foot 3-pointer at times. Although when he's on, he can win a game for you. I think he has two games that he shot like 7-7.

As a defender, I would take Mayo as well. Although, someone that can shoot as well as Brust would look good in any uniform. Probably why Bo took the love of the game from Markhoff.

Brust is a chucker.

Mayo can score and he plays D.

As it was stated on the UW board....Brust can't guard a chair.

He can shoot but I'm not so sure about the rest of his game (defense?). Thought his co-traditional (Gasser) looked awful last night - two airballs on wide open threes.

I think he missed those shots because he was whining before, during and after his shot.  When he scores, he usually only whines before and after.  Man, he is tough to stomach.  He makes Ryan look like a saint.

+1

Both dickbags, but one gave us a Final Four, D-Wade, Novak, Diener, Big East, and a lot of fun for many years.  Some fail to understand this.

I just assume both of them spit in each others faces when they walk off the court.  Or maybe not shake hands at all - they can do the Vander holdback of the high five.

The IU boards are in near meltdown...40 + pages of how terrible of a coach Crean is.  Funny the complaints are the same that MU fans had.  Saying he is a terrible coach and that he has no basketball intuition, my same complaints all along.

And they are correct.  Your best player and most importantly your best rebounder collects his 4th foul with 6 minutes left and he sits while Iu gives up a lead as Wisky collects 4-5 offensive rebounds.  Crean then puts him back in down 5 with 1:04 left in the game.  Absolutely abyssmal.  on top of it they s run a set out of the time out where said cold player shoots a 15 foot turn around J.

So glad those days are over in Milwaukee...IU's loss is MU's gain.

Cant wait til that A-hole gets fired

I thought IU fans were stupid, but some MU fans fit the bill as well.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20120126/bkc-t25-indiana-wisconsin/

Zeller was put back in down 3, a one possession game with 1:04 and the ball.  Not down 5.  So you're wrong, the IU fans are wrong.  The article attached accounts it correctly.

On the IU board there were probably 1000 pages of posts after they beat #1 Kentucky and #2 Ohio State.  Apparently they won those games despite Crean but lost this game because of Crean.  Some IU fans are this stupid and goes to show plenty of MU fans are as well.  With the #1 recruiting class coming in next year and exceeding expectations this year, it would be hard to believe that he would fired anytime soon.

Yes.  That makes logical sense.  I'm not going to argue whether Crean is a good coach or a bad coach, but just in general, if there is an AWFUL coach who just makes his team worse, then when that team wins games they win them IN SPITE of the coach, while when they lose games, it very well could be BECAUSE of the coach.  That is logical.  What would NOT be logical would be to claim that a coach is amazing and the reason a team is successful (Bo Ryan, for example), but then go on to say that the coach is the reason that they are losing games (as opposed to a lack of talent or something else).

I'm with Dimes.  Not saying he will get fired.  Not saying he should get fired.  But boy, I sure will be happy when he DOES get fired.

The legendary arrogance of his I-4 comments should be the precursor to a legendary fall.  In fact, not winning with his stud recruits coming in--which will happen because he can't coach--could accelerate his demise.

Almost all coaches get fired, you are hardly offering anything credible in your comments.  Coaches that hang around for long periods of time are the exception, not the rule.

Care to restate your down 5 points comment before Zeller was put back in?

2-30 on the road is not correct either.  They have three road wins this year alone, plus a neutral court win.  Where do you get your information?

Or are you talking about 2-30 in Big Ten play?  Considering that joke of a team they had the first few years, it is not surprising to those of us that know Big Ten basketball.

So, for some fun (or some agony).....what if we were to face either Crean or a repeat with Bo in the NCAA tournament...two questions to ponder:

1.  Who would you rather beat to knock out of the tournament....Crean or Ryan?

2.  Who would be worse on our collective pysche to lose to and get knocked out of the tourney....Crean or Ryan?

Either case would be sweet in #1 and both would be horrible in #2.    I'm very torn, but, I think it would be sweeter to knock out Crean and more painful to lose to Cryin' Ryan.

I vomit thinking of losing to either, though.   This is just to add some fun back into the thread.

Title: Tom Coughlin - fans want him fired
Post by: Hoopaloop on February 07, 2012, 10:13:09 AM
Anyone catch the post game of the Super Bowl on NBC?  Dan Patrick talked to the Giants owner about the fans calling for Coughlin's head only 6 weeks earlier.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/23/tom-coughlin-rises-again/

Fans on message boards calling for someone to be fired means nothing. Dimes, you need to be smarter than this.  They are selling out Assembly Hall, people are talking about them again, great recruiting classes coming in, money from Mark Cuban, the guys at Eli Lilly, and other well to do boosters.  IU has a solid administration that isn't going to abandon their plan.  You sound like some of my Purdue brethren.  Expectations will be very big down there, but that doesn't mean they are going to fire their coach because he doesn't take them to a Final Four in the next 5 years.  If he does go to a Final Four, what will be the excuse this time?  That he had Dwyane Wade?

For a Purdue guy, you sure know a lot of about the situation at IU and their "solid administration."

This charade is more bizarre and disturbing than a David Lynch movie.

I don't live here at Scoop 24/7.  When I do come here, I typically read a few threads and that's it.  Sometimes when I have more time I'll go back and catch up on some others.  Maybe we should have a timer that says threads should be locked after 2 days so that those of us that don't login every day, spend every waking minute here can just keep our thoughts to ourselves.  :P

No gloating at all, he's the IU coach not the Purdue coach.  Though don't you find it fascinating that there are posts here when they lose or entire threads but nothing when they win?  Predictions of firings?  Weren't these some of the same posters here that said he wouldn't make it this long.  Using hatred for analysis and not your brain is never a good idea.  I hear Minnesota is really bad according to one thread here, but on another thread today it has us playing Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA tournament according to some bracket projection.

MU against DePaul - it was fun.  Were you there?  MU portion of the crowd was so-so, but it's always good to have a good solid MU support base there against the Demons.  Not much to talk about really.  We beat a grossly inferior team.  We came out slow (again), recovered (again) and won handily (as we should have).

You should really start reading UFO books.  It's odd for someone that went to Purdue and grew up with Indiana basketball (the state of Indiana) to not know about his rival school's administration?  I find it anything but.

Yet we have posts after posts after posts here about Wisconsin's administration (the good or bad of it) and about Barry Alvarez, or Bret Bielema, Chadima, Bo Ryan, and others associated with the Wisconsin program?

For a Marquette board, we sure know a lot about the situation at UW and their "solid administration".
