Title: USF game thread
Post by: mileskishnish72 on January 24, 2012, 06:31:11 PM
Thinking ahead, I see one of two scenarios - either we expand on what we've been doing and put away a somewhat inferior opponent at home without too much angst, or we get sucked into the slow pace and it becomes a true nail-biter.

USF reminds me of LSU. Same threats.

But that may not matter to Cookie Monster.

Just doesn't seem to be much buzz for this team.

This is a strange game.  Just no excitement or something.

Missed layups, free throws......,loose balls.......

USF lets clock run down, pass around and then shoots.  No wonder they have scoring defense lead.

Both teams shooting 33%.

Dont like MU's body language.  Not going after loose balls.  Slow pace is sucking the life out of them.

I knew USF would do this. This is a mental obstacle for MU.

Beautiful first half.  Didn't get frustrated by their pace, not trying to force the running game whe it's not there and valuing the half court possessions.  Nice job of limiting their second chances defensively.  And Jamil's stock continues to soar.

Post by: Lighthouse 84 on January 24, 2012, 07:55:59 PM
Not sure how that wasn't a foul on Juan at the end but we'll take it.

Is Jamil's follow up jam at the end of the half the top play or only #2 on SportsCenter tonight?  I'll go with top.....but that's me. Mr. Vegas.

When DJO gets his feet set, he is just deadly from 3.

JWil looking good again.

Nice recovery block by JA to set up that last basket & JWil with the flush!

Yep.  Guess we can bust the myth of not being able to play a smart, in control game.  Hopefully it can last for the full 40.

Need to continue to drive on them.  USF could have some serious foul problems and they don't have the bench MU has.

Exactly.  MU making stops playing awesome defense, then:

Wilson three straight jacks.
DJO with circus shot
Jae with miss after coming off bench seconds later.

Five straight possessions with nothing.  Should be up by 20 plus.

Up 21 and it gets the "invincible" mind games going.   Happens to many teams.

Don't know if USF is this bad or is MU's defense this good (tonight).

16 turnovers to 3, at eight minute mark.  Thats insane.
