If Blackledge does not come back and DJ somehow manages to get drafted and goes to the NBA, MU goes from having one too few to having one extra scholarship for 2007. I wonder if there is somebody around (a big man perhaps) who is of decent quality and still available for 2007.
Any thoughts?
DJ Kennedy. Crean was watching his game intently at the Pitt Jamfest this past weekend. 6'5 wing, slasher, tough, a winner, more scorer than shooter. Two time high school state champ. He visited Xavier and Georgia last week and St. John's this week I believe. Other schools including Madison are taking a look. Kennedy is well aware MU's interest is only if DJ goes pro. He would be a nice find this late in the game.

Then it's set.
From DJ (Dominic) to DJ (Kennedy)!
It's fate!
;)
DJ Kennedy might be find at this point in time but don't we have enough slashers/scorers? We need a big body and shooters. This would be one instance where I would carry an extra scholarship into next year. We are fairly deep at every position except legit big man and maybe point guard with Dom leaving but poing guard will be addressed the following year with a high level talent.
I agree with the above post, but even though Crean - I believe - has saved a scholly before, he also must deal with the reality of his bench and injuries. I foresee him getting a wing forward (6-7"ish) to fill a couple of slots. There aren't going to be many big men in the Spring signing period, and the only shot MU has this year is if someone decides to transfer. Of course, the transfer could not play immediately if they played D-I this past year.
4/30 JSOnline:
"Wisconsin has one more scholarship it could offer for 2008 though that it is possible that the Badgers will use it to sign someone this spring. According to Pittsburgh Schenley coach Fred Scrocki, the Badgers are showing a lot of interest in D.J. Kennedy, a 6-4 forward who is one of the top available high school prospects left in the 2007 class."
I suppose we'll see.
