Looking at the SOTG awards, I've got to admit that I like the spread. There was some talk on the board about how many people won it last year, and that seeing more people was good. I can understand that, since it means there is more depth. Same thing this year.
Two points:
1. DJO only has 2, despite averaging 18 or so. On the one hand, I'm disappointed that he's only been STOG twice - on the other hand, is he being discriminated against, since we expect him to do his thing? I was hoping he'd have 5 or 6 by now.
2. Is there a historical record of STOG's available on the site?

So, you have a rooting interest in DJO making SOTG. Nothing wrong with that. But it's no reason to feel uneasy about the great balance that this team is showing. It's a definite strength. Truth is DJO (and Jae for that matter) are almost certainly handicapped in winning SOTG due to their higher profile which likely has opposing coaches spending more time preparing their teams for them.

Here's another truth that makes it tougher on DJO and Jae - more is expected of them by our fans, and if it's close they're more likely to vote for a player with a lower profile.
Still, the laugh may be on the board when DJO makes it to the next level. Jae as well.
As an optimist that loves this team's depth, can I suggest that you change the tally to include "J. Wilson."

14 points, or so, 5 or 6 assists, lockdown defense with a couple or three steals should get D. Wilson into the discussion.
DWil's big day will have to be in a game that Burr is not officiating.
Box score: 4 Minutes - 3 fouls
His tough D, and Burr's ticky-tack fouls, are a bad combination
I'd love to see Juan get one. Not sure he scores enough, though. If he got extended PT in a game, maybe 20 minutes due to foul trouble or simply a one-sided affair, I could see him having a 10-12 pt, 8 reb performance, along with great D and 2-3 diving efforts for balls.
Though looking at our schedule, I'm not sure there are many one-sided affairs left.

DWil hand checks too much. He has to get better at lateral movement or he is going to be called for that constantly.
He's really coming along. I think he deferred to the seniors in the beginning of the year, but now he's playing w/o anticipating
every move, just growing into it.

Unfortunately, I don't think so (unless they're buried in threads), however, I did archive last years tally on the wiki pacge for that year...
2010-2011 MUScoop Season SoG Tally
Butler | 5 |
Johnson-Odom | 5 |
Crowder | 4 |
Blue | 2 |
Buycks | 2 |
Cadougan | 2 |
Frozena** | 1 |
Gardner | 1 |
Otule | 1 |
** The Frozena "SOTG" was controversial a dual SOTG with Frozena awarded the honor for nailing a three during a game during his senior campaign. I'm sure some are still sour over that one.
Good job, Rock. I'm sure if I had relied on memory alone I would have said "Jeez, didn't JFB have 10 or 12?"
Same deal as this year, I think - you take the leader's contributions as a given and anyone else seems like the real STOG.
