Nice piece. Slight quibbles.
Believe me, Buzz would happily take a one-and-done (or two). He wouldn't turn down the next Carmelo or Greg Oden. So let's not pretend he only wants 15-passenger-van riders.
I appreciate how hard the basketball players work. My daughter was a Division III player and even at that level, they work incredibly hard (and do so without most of the perks). But to say with absolute certainty that every basketball player works harder than, say, every engineering major -- who might be working a 6-hour internship when he isn't going to class or studying -- is assuming a lot.
I really did like the column, though. Lots of good points. And he wrote it without tearing the Tribune writer(s) a new a-hole. Who says we can't be civil in today's society?!?!
