In case anyone is looking to be cheered up after the Syracuse game, Steve Taylor's Simeon squad will be playing Miller Grove (Ga.) tonight at 7 CT on ESPN2. Great exposure for Taylor.
Thanks fot the head up! I'll set my DVR.
Friendly bump.
Steve Taylor showtime at 7 CST one ESPN2 and 3.
They'll be playing Miller Grove (GA) and big 6'9" Tony Parker:

Can't wait to see him play, especially against great competition. I guess he is now 6ft 8 and strong.
MU needs a PF and depth real bad (not counting on that Durley kid).
Someone with size, strength and actual skills to go up against these BE teams. J. Wilson was to be the solution, but after the first half of season I don't think that is his role.
This will be a nice opportunity to see him on a national stage.

I don't know too many people that saw JWilson play that thought he would be the answer at the 4 spot. He is a 3 to 4 that is now playing a 5 to 4 position. If Otule were healthy, you would see a different game out of Wilson.
OK, not a bash on Wilson and I agreed that is not his position. But that makes it even more imperative to get a #4 to replace Crowder next year.

Agreed! I am really hoping Taylor is that guy. If he is, he will see a lot of minutes next year.
Taylor looks strong and athletic. Not afraid to dribble. Announcer says he is a real outside threat.
Nunn is not playing point.
That Jabari Parker kid is pretty good!

If you have never seen ST play check out his all around game. Nunn is a SG not a PG...that is Tate. Parker's dad Sonny played in The League. Well versed. Simeon is very well coached in the fundamentals. Anxious to hear reactions to the Scoopers who have not seen them.
We could use the Nunn dude also.
Nice of Nunn to list MU first on his list of favorite schools for the announcers. . .
Talking well about Steve and how he may convince Jarbi to look at MU.. Also said one of his 3 favorite schools is MU.
I don't know how good that Jamal Branch is, but Nunn is the real deal. Get him now.
That Tate kid is fast and Parker is Kobe-Junior. Wow, 6ft 8, only a junior and plays like that, he is one and done.
Very impressive high school team.
I missed that. Did Jabari Parker list us in his top 3?

No, but announcers were joking about Taylor committing, and Nunn having MU as his favorite, so why not add Parker.
Wet dreams.
Yeah, when I pork Erin Andrews

Quite frankly, most of this Simeon team is ready for PRIMETIME. They are completely stacked. This Simeon team has to be the most loaded Chicago area HS team since the Farragut Academy team with Kevin Garnett and Ronnie Fields.
Really glad we've got Taylor, would LOVE to get Nunn, and Jabari Parker is very solid.
#1 Simeon beats #34 Miller Grove (GA) by 3.
Taylor 11 points 5 boards. Taylor spent most of the game covering a very good Tony Parker (6'9" 265 #31 ESPN). Taylor was very impressive on a team loaded with talent. Miller Grove really made a 3rd quarter run when Simeon played zone. I wish Taylor would have taken a few outside shots. He is smart, unselfish, and a smooth finisher. He has a nice FT stroke. He played very well together with Nunn.
Nunn was awesome and possibly the MVP of the game. Jabari Parker had an outstanding first half.
Not a very impressive line by Taylor's standards, but he looked really good to me. Long, smooth athlete, and skilled. He's going to be much better than his current ranking, but I figure his ranking will go up.......he has put up great numbers on the #1 team. MU could really use him right now.

Hopefully, by next year, MU's days of having players of Taylor's size guard players of Tony Parker's size will be over.
3 for 7 at the line, including a missed front end of a 1-1 in crunch time. Yes, Taylor will fit right in.
But seriously, folks ...
I liked his athletic ability and the way he runs the court on the break -- really filled the lane and exploded toward the hoop. He could use a little more muscle but he did a pretty nice job battling a huge opponent.
In short, glad we have him. I'd be double glad with sugar on top if he'd somehow convince Jabari to make us his 1-and-done stop!

I wonder if Jabari's dad, Sonny...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Parker_(basketball)
is related to the other Chi-town Sonny...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Parker_(musician)
Taylor plays really smooth and in control. He doesn't make mistakes. Plays very unselfish. He will contribute right away next year to help MU win.

Although J Wilson doesn't have the strength of a power forward that is his best postion----his most natural position. His strength offensively is accepting the ball just wide of the lane and either taking the 10-12 foot jump shot, manuvering for the shot in the paint, or kicking the ball back out to the perimeter or hitting cutters to the hoop.
BTW----he's only a 30% shooter from the perimeter where a #3 would lurk.

Murff, I agree. I like his midrange jumper. I wish he would use it more often. That is something this team is missing. Butler's midrange game has not been replaced.

Couldn't agree more, Murff. Good to see you again.
I would hope for Jamil that we can play him at the 3 to showcase himself a bit more. Otule, Juan/Taylor and Jamil would be a nice 5,4,3 combo.
I think Jamil Wilson can be a really good player for Marquette. The question is, what is holding him back? Why doesn't he turn it on? We need him to play hard and aggressively go to the hoop. We need him to score. Why is he holding back? He's got to take advantage of the opportunity and step up. We need him to play to the best of his ability now!

He is a wing player asked to play the 5. I think that is his problem.
He's never been an aggressive player. Very good athlete, but not real tough! I've been waiting for him to get the system and have a break out game, especially with CO out for the year.
