Title: Positives
Post by: Slim on January 04, 2012, 09:16:16 PM
80% from the Line, 44% from 3

Blue looking more comfortable at the point, playing within himself. 6 assists 2 TO's. His defense was very good again. Clarks' production went way down once they made the switch.

Jr. can take body contact and still finish a lay -up

JWil wasn't hurt worse in the first half. We need many minutes out of him.

Mayo's attitude. He won't become "the man" without making mistakes in a tough road game like this.

37 minutes of good team ball.

Some success attacking the zone in the first half that led to layups.

Just sayin'

Had very good ball movement on O for much of the first and second half, except for the last 4 minutes.

Agree on the numbers, Vander, Wilson, and Mayo.

30 minutes of good ball for me. This game was lost when the Hoyas got five in seven seconds due to MU mistakes. Collapse was set.

As for Junior, he did that once. With the shot clock at four seconds. He had no choice. Don't see that happening often.

Good list of positives.  It's hard to see positives after a game like this, so well done.  Loved the ball movement in the first half.

I think we learned our best lineup is Blue, Mayo, DJO, Crowder, Gardner.  Hopefully the others can come in and do something positive in the future though.

I think we need to work one more guy into the rotation.  Hopefully Anderson or someone starts impressing more in practice to earn some floor time.  I hate the idea of playing only 7 guys in Big East games.

And we won't have a let down coming off a big win as we head to 'Cuse.

Disagree strongly on ball movement in the second half. We didn't get more than one or two good shots the last 12-13 minutes. Lots of passing 30 feet from the hoop. Very few drive-and-kicks. Almost no good post feeds.

Blue mostly played well at PG. DJO was feelin' it in the first half. A few other positives. Not many, in the end I'm afraid.

Exactly. This would be a + if we blew a lead just today but we see it time after time.

Im sorry but none of these are positives.

We did what we have done all the time. Came out flying and hit a good team in the mouth. Then found a way to throw the game away.

These are positives when we learn to close one of these games. Hell, they are positives if it was a back and forth game we lost.........anything but the same old same old monumental collapse.

And the reason we played so well in the first half is because Georgetown was turning the ball over and played a really crappy defensive scheme.  (Notice how MU absolutely shredded their zone??)  Georgetown extended their man to man, switched every screen, daring MU to either feed the post or drive to the hoop - neither of which they were able to accomplish.  Sorry but DG cant give up that much size and be effective in a post-up offense.

While Davante played ok overall, his inability to get any lift cost us possessions several times in a game in which every possession ended up counting. It affects him on the offensive end as well, as he's often having to bring the ball up through a forest of arms while standing basically flat footed. Hopefully he can develop at least some lift with the training program. He's clearly worked hard to this point in shedding weight, so no reason to think he won't continue to improve physically.

Here's a positive: We won't have to read all those stories about Buzz leaving for another job at the end of the season.

After all the good vibes here on the Scoop for Buzz, he'll get an offer from a Big 12 school and be happy to take it and be able to recruit guys 6'9 or taller..

That Big 12 school better have about $30 million at its disposal to buy out his contract and then pay him what he is getting here.

If we're going to recap positives can we vote for SOTG, too?

We had similar situations last year.  This team is being tested in ways it hasn't earlier in the season.  They will learn and respond well, just as last year.

I most care how a team plays from Feb 10ish til the end of the year.  That is money time.

Any more performances like last night and the new AD might disagree with you.
