Anyone hear anything else about him? Is he running in practice? Was he limping around in pregame against Nova? Thanks in advance...

If he's done for the year, they would have cut the crap out of that knee cap by now.
Only telling what I heard
Anybody heard the real scoop from their neighbor's sister's brother-in-law's source yet?
I would have taken the Demolition Man approach and frozen him.

However, John Spartan was not healing in those cyro tanks.
John Spartan was a bad bad man when he was un-thawed however! Perhaps Otule would come back the same?

Since you know and talk to Chris (or at least have talked to him) about his knee, why don't you fill us in on his status?
At least the title of the thread is asking for "rumors" rather than "facts"**
**which I would think are being played pretty close to the vest right now...but thats probably just a rumor...wait, what just happened?

Really? Pumping me for information on Chris huh? Now why would I say anything when I'd just be opening myself up to attacks? Does it really matter what he said coming from me? I don't think so. (Macaulay culkin voice)

a couple of **
fantastic** nude scenes in Troopers. none of that sweet, sweet action with princess leia.
plus, there is some dude-ass shots too, for you...
Actually his 14 foot Avatar will be ready against Syracuse.

Yeah... but that's a lot of crap movie to sit through just for a couple nudie shots. Even if you skip chapters on the DVD, I'd bet there's some fast-forwarding involved, and you'd probably overshoot your destination, then have to rewind, etc. Seems like a hassle... why not simply pay $5.99 for three-day website access somewhere else and cut to the chase?

Pay for porn?
You need to learn to internets better.
Am I right in understanding that if he uses a medical redshirt this year it would extend his career at MU through 2014-2015 (6 seasons)?

That's hardly "pumping" you for information. Seems to me you could clear a lot up by just stating facts. Nevermind. I never really did think you actually knew anything about it.
Dennis Krause tweeted that Buzz Williams was "pretty candid" about Otule's status on Inside MU basketball which must have been shot yesterday before they left for DC. It airs at 5pm tonight so we should know more then.

You are not.

It could extend him to 2013-14 if granted. No guarantee of that, but he certainly won't be here in 2014-15.

So the 6 seasons part is correct though.

Yes.
2008-09 Freshman year
2009-10 Medical redshirt
2010-11 Sophomore year
2011-12 Junior year (Hardship)
2012-13 Senior year
2013-14 Senior year (Hardship granted)

Sort of. It would come from a Five-Year Rule waiver, not from a hardship waiver. The timing and requirements are far different. If he is unable to play this year (i.e., doctors say he can't play), he'd be in good shape to be granted another year on his five-year clock.

Anyone in the Milwaukee area want to give an update on what Buzz has to say?
For those not watching, Buzz doesn't anticipate him playing again this year, but will make a decision at the end of this week. Buzz said he's not at peace with the decision to send Chris back out there. To me that means his knee would allow him to play, but Buzz isn't willing to risk his future and career. As stated above though, you can't really take Buzz at his word all the time with injuries.
Listening to Buzz, it sounded like far more of a philosophical/emotional question than anything. It's weird...it almost sounds like Otule could play now, but that it's as much about the team getting used to DG starting as it is getting a healthy CO back.
I'll admit, I'm really confused by all of this. If he's healthy and capable of coming back, I can't see any possible downside. As Buzz mentioned, CO is one of the few guys on the team that contributes without needing the ball, and both he and DG are better by being able to rotate in and out with each other.
I maintain that for this team to reach its potential, it needs Otule. And with there being no guarantee of a sixth year being granted, why you wouldn't try to get him back if he's ready is beyond me.
Agreed brewcity, that is kind of the vibe I got. I was almost a little angry because it sounded like Buzz was the one holding him back. Obviously we don't know much about the situation, and Chris may want to sit out this year, and it is ultimately his decision. However, it sounded like he was able to play or at least not far from playing based on physical reasons alone.
Six years is really kinda stretching out your college career. I don't really see it as a benefit to MU for Chris to return for a sixth. I think that the decision is eating at Buzz because he wants to be fair to Chris.

We have already seen marked improvement from CO this year. If he sits out the remainder of this year, comes back as a stud for TWO MORE YEARS, he certainly will benefit MU on the court, benefit MU with being a 7 footer (6' 11'), maybe get a sniff to play pro, in turn benefit scoopers and recruits with the age old question of why no 7'?
Love to see him this year if he can go, if not I see a huge benefit for CO to return for a 6th year, if allowed.

Was careful not to say NBA. However, two more years would certainly help his chances for the next level.

I think he would have a decent shot to play overseas. The NBA will never be a reality for CO. He is already pretty old. :)
