No one today is discussing how the outrageously bad home loss to Vanderbilt on December 29, 2011, compares to Marquette's loss to Team X a year ago, Team Y three years ago or Team Z back in 2003.
And to some here, especially AnotherMU84: Your desire to debate which loss might have been "bigger" or "worse" or more relevant is silly and, in AnotherMU84's case, difficult to understand.
The only loss that matters to and for Marquette right now is the 74-57 pounding that MU took at home December 29, 2011. A thrashing and a whipping by Vanderbilt that was shown on national television.
It is the kind of loss that has people asking questions and expressing a lot of doubt.
And naturally angry people have an opportunity to vent.

Is someone "naturally angry" for being hugely disappointed at and embarrassed by how badly Marquette played in a nationally televised loss to Vanderbilt?
Is someone "naturally angry" when acknowledging that MU looked woeful -- bordering on helpless -- against Vanderbilt?
Is someone "naturally angry" to recognize that Marquette has tended to play poorly on national television, which provides the largest, most-visible forum?

No my point is "it happens" and teams recover from it. The epic collapse against Louisville last year did not prevent a sweet sixteen run. The embarrassment against UNC in the tourney did not prevent a top 10 ranking this year. Teams get over these games. You post suggests you think teams only get over wins, not losses.
If we beat GU or SU in the next week (again if), go ahead and start a thread saying it does not matter because of the Vandy loss. See how far that gets you.
Lastly, do you also think #22 Pitt is a lousy team headed to the NIT because they lost at HOME to Long Beach State and Wagner and badly on the road to ND. Your logic says yes.
Ditto #17 Kansas that also lost at home to Davidson. They are a bad team too and who cares about anything else they might have done.
Avenue your hysterical about one game, let's see if it happens again. And we only have to wait about 10 days to know for sure.
The Vandy loss means nothing if we can start the Big East 1-0 on Sunday. It was definitely the worst loss by a Buzz Williams coached MU game IMO.
Last night, I told my wife (also a proud Marquetter) the exact same thing about last year's Louisville loss not preventing a Sweet 16 run.
We don't know how this loss will affect the rest of the season -- whether it will be a huge thing or just a blip.
Besides, weren't these chat boards created to let people vent, cheer, complain, debate, etc.?
