Our offense is so bad. Like embarassingly bad. Anytime a team turns it over DJO just puts his head down and does something braindead to give the ball back

Wow.   Just wow.   Can't run offense, can't play defense, can't rebound, picking up the dribble 25 feet from the basket, missed lay ups, 3 pointers that miss 4 feet right.    No size, nobody attacking off of the dribble.

what a horrendous start.....getting decent shots and can not hit a thing...defense starting to look shaky too.   Not a showing you want at home, on national tv, and last game before conference play.   Still early, but, look like a lost team to start an important game after a layoff and before the BEast starts.

This is the essence of the problem.  We don't get enough inside scoring.  Only one reliable inside wing (Jae) and he is undersized.

Who wants to tangle underneath other than Jae?

Nobody (except Davante).

Vander can't shoot.
Todd's turning the ball over.
DJO's tail is between his legs.
Junior has been attacking the rim. I don't blame him. Who's gonna be there?
JWil settles for outside shots.
Buzz has more three point attempts than DWil.

craziness...

Buzz better have some adjustments.

And go recruiting for some bigs.

Haven't been this embarrassed by MU since the nightmare against Kansas....but at least that was in the Final Four.  Tough to regain credibility unless we turn this around big time. Really thought DJO was gonna be a force this year. He, and everybody else, look awful.

apparently "AND ONE" for our team means we get fouled and we make only one of the free throws.        I'm so sick of somebody shouting out and one when we dont even make the bucket, its sad.

"Heart" isn't the issue.  We cannot shoot.

maybe not heart, but brains wouldn't hurt.  i understand a bad shooting night...i don't understand giving up so many open threes, not boxing out, making stupid fouls when we're already missing CO, etc.  mayo turns the ball over but he's trying to be agressive.  djo, shooting step back jumpers all night.  he's blowing it big time in front of a lot of NBA scouts...too bad.

DJO and Crowder are really disappointing right now as our seniors.   This should be the type of game they step up and shine.   Vandy looks hungry as hell for this game and we look tentative on both ends.

Still a LOT of season left but like the UW game showed some of our best....this is showing our absolute worst.   Which team are we this year ane which team will we be in the conference?

Scotch time.....soak in some Lagavullin and watch to see if MU shows any life and character in teh 2nd half.

Enjoy the spirits, at least.

Just popped two sleeping pills and am washing it down with a laphroaig 10yr.

I don't think JJ will ever see the court when there are fouls to be taken - those wer 2 of the worst bricks I've seen in a while.
And Jones was a shooter coming out of high school. His confidence has been shot during his time at MU so far. Hope he finds his stroke soon.

We're killing them on the offensive boards, 10 to 5! But of course we've had more misses to rebound.

Laphroaig is tasty....and smoky...

Completely embarassing!  Obviously, they'e getting theire A##@s handed to them...AT HOME! I hope Buzz has a few good words...and adjustments... at the half to make this a game.

I watched them for decades and the effort and overall play this past half has been some of the worst I have seen the Warriors play....ever!!

I disagree.  The effort is there.  Lazy shot selection, and the fact that the ball won't go in the hoop is the problem.

This game reminds me of a game my Sophomore year where we got crushed at Minnesota 100-66 on national TV. We made Randy Beuer look like a superstar that night.

Does anyone think Buzz needs to dial back the intensity of the pre-game workouts? I hear over and over again how those are more intense then some teams regular practices. Does it take too much out of them?

Dykes put it best when he said this is a case of perception meeting reality.  We had the perception of being a top 10-15 team, but tonight we are getting seriously exposed in every area.  Knew it was bad when we were down 18-4 before the Rutgers game even ended.

Just poured my third glass of wine.

Ugh....after watching our two pgs drive and turn the ball over on consecutive possessions and then watching Vandy drill another 3....I can not stomach any more basketball tonight.   Signing off and enjoyed the discourse....much more than the game (which I was really looking forward to all week).

Hopefully we will flushg this turd down the toilet and get ready for Villanova.

Lazy  shot selection suggests lack of effort and preparedness. You cannot deny they are being out hustled on their own floor and Cadougan jumps for a rebound after two foul shots for Crowder when he has three shows me his head is not in the game!!

Title: Re: Vanderbilt game thread
Post by: Jacks DC on December 29, 2011, 09:38:33 PM
Even before tonight I knew that this team was not that big, especially without Otule, so we don't rebound that well or score inside.  We are also not a very good outside shooting team so that puts a lot of pressure on our defense, which has been terrible.  I would take a 12 point loss right now.

Must be nice to have four guys 6'9" or taller on your roster like Vanderbilt has. The one guy who is taller than 6'8" for MU is likely done for the year.  Please let Durly at least be able to play 5 minutes a game next year....

When 2 of your starters don't score at all, it's pretty tough to expect any success.

As for Durley, I really don't expect anything from him next year. Didn't someone say he's not even getting time playing on his high school team? If that's the case, what do they really expect him to be able to contribute?

This is why I can't understand why people on this board have touted our great depth.  If you are in the Big East and have 1 active player over 6'7", depth is a serious problem.

I would like to know how we prepared for this game when we had a week to prepare for Vandy.  Maybe the boys thought they had an easy game with "unranked" Vandy, enjoyed some eggnog and played some xbox.  Whereas,  Vandy had a "must win" situation.  Vandy was a previously ranked team with very high pre-season expectations.

I am very disappointed in both MU's lack of preparedness AND performance tonight!!

I would say play the starters and try to make this look respectable, but Buzz has to be thinking about Villanova in 3 days.  This is a loss, and we HAVE to win that game with road games at Georgetown and Syracuse next.

This team lacks aggression. Getting prissy and cute for this MU fan.

I had been upbeat about Vander's improvement. That's gone after this.
When looking for a comeback, we had Van, DWil (although he made a nice move for a hoop, though it appears that like Junior, he can only go R) and others on the floor. The announcers nailed it - if it isn't # 1, 4, or 32, they are backing off big time. People have us sussed out.

This game is over. The Vandy players are up on there toes and MU has no poise. We shoot 22% on a national stage against a team that lost to Indiana State? Buzz is being outcoached by a mediocre Stallings.

Mediocre?  He's 2-0 against Buzz.  Has to recruit to a place like Vanderbilt and seems to get his club in the NCAAs fairly routinely of late.

All this drinking and only one person bothered to drink anything worthwhile?  Miller Lite, Maker's, Baker's, Dewars?!  If you're going to keep a bottle or more of something on hand for times like these, at least make it something worthwhile.  Yeesh.  Cheers to the Laphroaig drinkers even though I'm more of a bourbon drinker (Eagle Reserve doesn't last long in my house).

Also, MU sucked last night.
