Title: Mid-season transfers
Post by: tower912 on December 27, 2011, 09:31:08 AM
Am I the only one who breathed a quiet sigh of relief when they found out that the whole team was back on campus and practicing?    I didn't think anyone would leave, but I never anticipated JMay or Reggie leaving, either.     Beat Vandy!

The only players I'd see who would "fit" the mid-season transfer possibility would be Jamail or Juan.

Jamail is coming along, slowly but it's coming.  His shot seems to be perfect or awful... but he's grinding it out, which I appreciate.

Juan's development was stunted by his own missteps and injuries, yet he's still gotten PT.  I think he sees himself as a valuable piece to this team.

What the hell is going on out there?  Is Tony Bennett a train wreck or what?

I think it is a bit early to label Bennett a "train wreck."  As we should know, there are stories behind transfers that aren't always told.

Tried to go without teal.  If I got that by Sultan, nobody will get it.

Point is, Buzz gets crap for the same, but it goes on at all programs.

If Juan leaves I think it would be the worst transfer for us since we lost ODB.

Yes, counting D-Mase.

I think Juan will be really good for us.

Ya, give Jamail his just do he is sticking it out. But, I think Juan is a keeper. Will be a MU star.

I thought the transfer Mbakwe was a pretty big loss, MU with him in the lineup is a much better team.

Obviously incredibly glad we didn't lose anyone, if anyone would leave would have predicted it to be Jamail, haven't seen much of him lately.

Buzz is going to know about transfers before any of us.  If we start hearing stuff about potential April signees, my guess is something is going on.  Since it doesn't seem like we are hot on any additional 2012 players, it looks as though nothing is imminent even after this year.

Well maybe not.  I'm on my annual weeks vacation between Christmas and New Years, which means I am eating too much, drinking too much and sleeping whenever I want.  Not really on my game!

If Buzz had 4 guys transfer from one class the squirming around here would be at all time highs.

Even Buzz probably doesn't know what will happen after the season. The Erik Williams departure was not expected.

Time will tell.....enjoy the season.

From a pure talent perspective Mbakwe was pretty big.  ODB probably bigger as having him during our Final Four run would have been huge.

Back to Mbakwe, though, I think what we lost in talent we gained in a lack of off the court drama.  Given all of his troubles and injuries one would have to assume some of those would have showed up here.  Thus, not as big as ODB who was a great all around player.

I have always thought that if ODB  had stayed ,we would have another banner!!

If you consider Mbakwe a "mid-season" transfer (he left in September), we have had at least one transfer every semester Buzz has been a coach.  Will this be the semester to break the streak?

Being known a an outside shooter, he is 18% on the year so far from three point land.  I hope he gets it together soon.

Mbakwe announced his departure in August, before the semester started. To consider him a midseason transfer would be just wrong.

ODB's leaving was painful for many reasons..., not the least of which is he was the guy that told Crean to sign DWade.  Ironic that Wade's stardom was the reason ODB left.

Wade would have created opportunities for ODB.

Oooooooooooh.  I thought we were talking about that rap star from the late 80's.
What was his name again?  Old, dirty bastage?

While at UNLV during the 2003-04 season Blankson, along with teammate Jerel Blassingame, were known as the "killer Bees".  The team was highly dysfunctional and drove coach Charlie Spoonhour into retirement during the season for "health reasons".
