Looks like Gardner can have a big night tonight based on the mis match
Defense is palying pretty darn well. Offense looks a little shaky again. DJO needs to turn it up.
DJO seems to be out of his coma.

Hasn't got the shot going but hes a lot more in control aside from the one fast break Meier swiped off him. I know DJ will be fine.
DJO is out of his coma, Gardner looks like a beast...unfortunately Jae thinks he's a 3 point sniper. This team needs to stop chucking up the 3 and run some offense based on dumping it into Gardner. Buzz gets them to do that and we'll see a huge FT gap between us and UWM.
Our offense is a real problem right now. No consistency. Its either charge, miss 3 or turnover(other than charge). FEED THE OX.
If UWM could hit a shot, we'd be in trouble.
DJO is always so out of control. With his ability, he'd be unstoppable if he had ANY kind of head on his shoulders.
I turned the game on. During the first 8 possessions I saw, 7 turnovers by all 4 of our guards and one possession with an actual shot, a missed floated by Vander. On the defensive end, I just watched 5 offensive rebounds by UWM. I don't want to watch anymore.
This team needs ballhandlers and dribbling lessons.
TC tightened the players up on dribbling low, and these kids dribble high.
Frustrated at the sloppy ballhandling, TOs and out of control play.
What amazes me is the inability of MU's guards to penetrate the zone.
EDIT: Tony Allen's brother is a real hustler. I like his game so far.
Davante...Davante...Davante...
Foul trouble all over. Juan and JJ going to have to play by default. Possibly the worst 6 minute stretch I have seen a Buzz team play. And that isn't a zone. It just shows a lack of movement right now.
What a awful tech call.
These refs are calling this like a girls middle school game.
And tower is right...UWM played zone for maybe two possessions.
Was that last shot really set up for Vander?
I am dead serious when I said our team needs to stop drinking before games. It is the only explanation for the last two games.
We're either out of control, in love with the three, or lacking any sort of idea as to what we want to do out there.
Very sloppy first half. I have bad feelings about the BEast!

I doubt it...he probably felt like needed to chuck up a 3 since he hadn't yet tonight...and everyone else has been chucking them up and clanking iron.

Gotcha.
But two straight games without effective paint penetration is going to affect what this MU team is built on: paint touches and drawing fouls leading to FT discrepancy.
When teams have negated our fast breaks by getting back quickly...when teams have forced us to run a half court offense...we have not been at our best.
I fear this game could get ugly when UWM shoots the three with confidence.

Wonderful. Continuation of Monday night when they were crap don't stink zombies.
Btw, Derrick Wilson not playing? Don't see him listed in any box score or gamecast.
EDIT: Nevermind. Just found him on one. Hate when some channels don't list certain guys.
77, you are dead on. If UWM starts hittin' 3's, and we don't change, it could get ugly quick
Buzz used Derrick for spot defensive purposes - subbing for Junior and then coming out right away.
To me the biggest issue in the first half was offensive rebounds. UWM would be totally dejected right now if we limited them to 2-3 offensive rebounds as they would probably have about 18 points. Way too many second chances. Probably the biggest achilles heel defensively for this team.
No. 10 ranking be damned, this is not looking like a team that going to tear up the BE. 10-8?:
Crowder zero points
Blue zero points
Shooting 31%, 14% on threes
Letting that guy (Allen?) get two layups with four MU players standing there was brutal.
If MU does not come out with a passion and blow these guys out, then I can't imagine what the Syracuse game will be like.
What is going on here?
Totally agree, Dano - BE will hi the boards harder than we've seen.

We're #10 for a few more days.
I expect us to be #15-18 in the next poll.
Other teams are playing harder than us and the pollsters are noticing it.
Nice start to the second half. I like the way Jamil looks right now.

Not going to deny that...that said, we've hit a rough patch, this team will battle through it and be the better for it.

At least someone out there is grabbing the bull by the horns.
Pretty this is not.
When will DJO learn? 15 games to go?
Of course DJO immediately picks up his fourth.
Awful call on DJO's 4th. Absolutely terrible.

Dude is really trying to do too much.
Todd Mayo and Jae. Show us the way.
DJO is keeping Milw in the game. Same thing over and over, driving in the lane and Globetrotter throwups.
These referees are just taking way too much out of this game. Cmon...this is D1 basketball.

Agreed.
And I didn't know Antoine Dodson was the PG for UWM.
This game is completely out of control. Bad basketball, terrible refereeing. Stupid calls going both way. TWENTY SIX FOULS? Jesus we're not even 30 minutes in.

29 fouls called (including 3 techs) in the first 28 minutes. Ridiculous. Let them play.
There is no need for a new nickname for the Ox. I love him, but have you ever seen an ox jump?

Yeah, we could have used some of these fouls during that very, very physical LSU game.
Here comes UWM's run. Are we up to it? DJO?
He seems to be able to jump better than most guys on this team when it comes to rebounding the ball, minus Wilson. How many times is Jae just standing there while his guy goes around or over him to grab the board.

Buzz is pissed. Two timeouts in last three minutes. One after Junior's drive and terrible shot after Milw turnover and then after offensive putback by Milw. following a bad pass by Blue.
With the lack of an inside presence and rebounding, we're screwed this season.
Zar and JFB did the dirty work last two years.
Jae was anointed to be that guy, but he loves the outside shot too much.

Buzz should be partially pissed at himself. His defensive scheme is allowing way too many offensive rebounds this year. There needs to be some sort of tweak to the defense to end it. This team is not magically going to become a good defensive rebounding team overnight.
Nice penetration by Jr wit his left hand. Finished with the right though.

When is Crowder going to put a body on somebody and go get a rebound? He always seems to be standing near his man but not doing much to keep him off the glass. I wonder if he has a nagging injury or something. I don't remember him playing so soft last season.
Ryan Allen is proving you don't need to be big to dominate the boards.
He's not Jimmy or Lazar

Agreed. Pressuring the ball way too closely and very far away from the basket just exposes the height disadvantage underneath. Despite the UWM TOs, they've also had good looks because of the overzealous defense.
Ryan Allen's got good game.
And there have to be MU guys crashing the boards if someone's driving. Third time an Eagle was stuck soaring and TO the ball.

Pretty much can apply it to the whole team for the past two games.
We are playing ok at best, and have a good lead. This team has potential.
Sad day when your guard has more rebounds than a "forward"...even Gardner has more rebounds than Jae.

Hard to get rebounds from the 3pt.
Jae's a critical player this year. But Buzz needs him to dominate in and around the paint, with the occasional 3pter. Jae needs to answer that call.
I know Jimmy and Zar would.
And I know that because I'm a Jedi. ;)

Somewhat misleading. Missed shots from long range often result in long rebounds - UWM has missed 21 threes.

Won't deny that, but Jae is constantly out hustled for boards or in poor position. DJO, Junior, and Ox have all out rebounded him.
At the end of the day, a win is a win. Lots to clean up before Vandy next week.
Can Ryan Allen be named SOTG even though he was on the opposing team?
Stick a fork in 'em.
Want to see this team hit on all cylinders. Lots of potential.
Played well in the second half. Clamped down on defense...rebounding got better...
11-1 .. nice. Junior played very well tonight.

Vandy first.
Then a very hungry Nova that wants to start BE play on a good note, opposite their non-conf record.
Then @ #16 Gtown
Then @ #1 Cuse
One helluva week to start BE play.
Well, Pomeroy predicted a 14 point win, 75-61, we won by 14, but only 64-50. I'm no tempo free guru, but I'm going to guess that both defenses will be ranked better tomorrow, and both offenses slightly worse.
Overall, I hate that style of game, but I'll take the result!
An ugly game overall. The end result is ok, Allen had 13 rebounds..... doesn't somebody, anybody... say "get a body on that guy and box out". Isn't that just good old fashioned effort? Jae, Vander, Jamil, Beuller....et all...? Vandy will be tough. Go Warriors!
