Would be amazing if he can make the Suns roster.
Great news! I wonder if Cadougan had never suffered that freshman year injury, what Buycks might have looked like last year. I think as a bench SG/PG and third guard in a small lineup, he could have really shone.
Still, glad he's getting his chance. As a back-up 2 and scoring specialist off the bench, he could really be successful even at the NBA level.
Very nice words. I wish they would have mentioned "Marquette". :-\
Did he change his name to DAwight?...Thought that's what Buzz called him last year. ;D
anyone who follows the NBA have a feeling of whether he's got a shot of making the actual roster?
If Greg Stiemsma can make a roster, I have no doubts about anyone anymore.
Regardless of what Dwight's future is with the Suns, the mere thought that he played in a game with Steve Nash and Grant Hill, is truly remarkable.
Pulling big time for Dwight to continue to play well.
I'm actually embarrassed to say that I watched a good portion of the suns intrasquad last night. And Buycks pretty looked good! I'm not just being a homer, either. He played quite a bit at both point and SG. As already said, good to see him getting his name out there!
Stiff Steimsma can't be anything more than training camp fodder for the Celtics.
I never thought that Dwight Buycks would have a shot at even trying out for a NBA team! He never struck me as a good ball handler or a better than avg scoring threat (even though he seemed to be shot happy). That said, I'm certainly rooting for him and hope he continues to turn some heads. As we saw w/ Wes, it's all about turning some heads... you may find a roster spot somewhere else!
Does Dwight have a really good agent or did he perform exceedingly well in some over the summer leagues that got him on some GM's radar?

Averaging 12.7/3.8/2.5 in 6 games for the Tulsa 66ers in the D League before getting the call from the Suns.
If the Suns like what they see, will they have to compensate OKC in order to offer him a roster spot? How does that work?

The D-League teams aren't directly linked to NBA teams, so there's no compensation because Buycks was never drafted by OKC. NBA teams can opt to send their players there, but the 16 D-League teams are (generally) made up of 2 NBA players and 10 D-League players. DB was a D-League player and thus eligible to sign with any team.
Eventually Stern wants to develop it to a full minor league system, but right now it's more a secondary league in which the NBA can park any young (3 years or less) or willing veteran players.
Here's a picture of him off the Suns website:

Hope that practice jersey turns into a game jersey.

Good stuff! To see a hard working kid from Milwaukee make it - heck even to see the wood for only one minute - can do wonders for the youth of Milwaukee.

All Marquette players should be referred to as "Marquette alum
player name" (i.e. Marquette alum Dwyane Wade, Marquette alum Dwight Buycks, etc). You know how Tyler Perry puts his name before everything he does? Same concept.
He could always score the ball
