How they voted: AP poll (Week 6)

Still unbeaten, Marquette remained at No. 11 in the latest Associated Press top 25 poll as only two teams lost above them - Ohio State (without Jared Sullnger) stayed at No. 2 and Kentucky, which fell at the last second to Indiana, went from No. 1 to No. 3.

Assuming Scott Wolf has Syracuse at 1, it would be sweet to see them go down and get a first place vote.

Good to see that no one can find any excuse to have us below 15th

I doubt we move next week either. The only shot any team looks to have at upsetting a top-10 is BYU playing Baylor at home. Otherwise...cupcake city.

A week ago I would have thought maybe Memphis at Louisville, but Memphis is again starting to look like they were overrated.

With final exams across the country this week one should expect cupcake city.  That's fine with me.  Gives our guys a chance to focus on grades and get healthy.  I'm hoping we see Wilson for a few quality minutes on Saturday.

Agreed. Although I hope they arent rushing Wilson back. For the forseeable future, he has A LOT of minutes on the horizon. Lets make sure he's 100% before getting back - as ankle injuries can tend to linger/recur.

Can we start a movement for Scott Wolf, AP Writer of the year?  Granted, I don't think we are the number two team in the nation right now, but its great to get some love.

So if we beat Syracuse at the Carrier Dome in a few weeks (assuming we're still unbeaten), we'll have to start getting at least his #1 vote, right?

In that scenario (assuming Syracuse is also unbeaten and ranked 1st at that point), I would say two or three first-place votes would have to be the minimum expectation.

In that scenario, we would be 16-0 with wins on the road against wisconsin, georgetown, syracuse and LSU.  We'd also have wins against Washington, Nova and Vanderbilt.  I fail to see how we are not No. 1 in the country if that comes to fruition.

Ole Miss is another good win. Neutral site beatdown against a team that hasn't lost another game and has a pair of high-major road wins. And Norfolk State is still looking decent...too bad O'Quinn couldn't stay out of foul trouble this week. They played a lot closer on the road against Va Tech than the final score indicated. They were within 5 with a few minutes to play, but the wheels came off after O'Quinn fouled out. Our resume has to be one of the best in the country right now.

Yes, good point on Ole Miss.  But while Norfolk St. might look ok for our computer numbers, beating them twice will have no positive impact on our rankings.

But as the projected worst team we played preseason, they're looking pretty good. Should at least be top-200 RPI. When it comes to seeding at least, having fewer garbage teams on the resume will be a big plus.

Now if only Mount St Mary's and Winthrop could get their acts together...

Yes, agreed, for seeding purposes, it helps.  But for the polls, I don't think it will sway the voters at all.

It's funny how Goodman was talking this week about how he would have Marquette higher than 10 on twitter, and yet his vote is for Marquette at 13.

Several had us dropping a slot or two.  Are other teams ahead of MU playing that many competitive OOC games right now?  Net net, we stayed at 11 and who cares as long as the wins keep coming.

The Kansas win of tOSU caused many many voters to have Kansas jump in front of us. That is why you see a lot of declines by one line.

I'd really like to see Baylor start losing. Something about their program doesn't sit well with me. Not exactly sure what it is but I'm not a big fan whatsoever.

I hate looking into these early season polls as they change so much throughout the year but it definitely doesn't hurt recruiting wise relative to the recognition we have been getting.

I just hope that our guys don't let these rankings get to their heads and still play with the same toughness and with a chip on their shoulder as we always have even though we have a high ranking. In saying that, I don't think our coaches would allow them to take anyone lightly regardless of ranking.

Heres to this being a very special year and getting past some of the injury bugs that tend to haunt us each and every season.
