Buzz' new contract was somewhere in the $2.3-2.5 mil range I believe, so he should be on that list.

Most of those coaches work for Public Universities. Not sure if that's why Buzz isn't on the list....

Rick Pitino's Other income of $1,431,378 is an abortion expense account provided by team boosters

This doesn't make sense to me. Crean's contract should put him on this list.... publicly available here:

Just a brief glance:
Salary: $600,000
Other: $1,640,000
Total: $2,240,000

I would assume this is based on last year?  USA Today compiled the list, and have Buzz making 860k.

These happen pretty regularly and always seem to be "puff" pieces... TC should have been on that list at MU, as well as all years so far at IU.

Personally I couldn't care less. In the case of Buzz, the agreement is essentially that money won't be an issue for him as long as he's our coach. Whether that's 2, 3 or 4 million a year I don't have a strong opinion.

On the whole topic of coach compensation, what's the difference between Buzz's lifestyle and Pitino's (aside from Pitino being a total dirtball)? Both fly private.... both work crazy hours.... both could live in the biggest house in town.... neither will go hungry. I get that more is better but in terms of quality of life, there really isn't a difference.

If a coach is motivated by the pride of being the "highest paid" or in the top ten (or whatever) I don't really care. I'm just interested in MU's program getting better each year.

I am surprised there is not more "other income" for most of these guys.  What did this article consider to be "Other"?  Speaking engagements? TV show contracts?  Local car dealership commercials?  Coors Light ads?

Click on the link to USA Today in the article and you can see Buzz listed at $876,282K so it is based on older data. That's an odd salary....they couldn't just round it to $875K?

in many cases those salries has incentive clauses tied to attendence...may be the reason for the odd number for Buzz

This probably is just an accounting issue.  Very little of Bo's contract, if any, would come from the tax payers of the state of Wisconsin.  Most likely, the University collects all shoe money, booster money, TV money, etc. and packages it all into a nice monthly check for him.  He may get some appearance money from the Alumni Association or something that accounts for his other income.

and Buick!  nothing screams "I'm a coach close to retiring" like doing Buick ads.  Good target marketing though for their crowd.
