Their up by three with 2-3 minutes into the second half.
When will they have the ceremony for the new banner in Assembly Hall?
I'm sure TC will want to put the banner right between the 1981 and 1987 National Championship banners.
WOW!!! What an ending...
Free throws boys. Kentucky missed them at the end. IU couldn't get shot off with 10 seconds, yet make a bomb three to win it. Good for them......
BTW, Terrence Jones had 6 early turnovers and Calipari sits him for rest of game.........
That was an amazing ending and pretty cool to see for IND. Plus I love to see an underdog take out KY>
Wow, big win, have to say, college basketball is better with Indiana relevant.....

Great game. Good win for IU. I didn't realize they were still undefeated. That might be the biggest jump from unranked in one week? Where do they go...top 15 for sure I'd guess.

Indiana will really be dangerous when they switch from Adidas to Nike.

Indiana shot 75% from three. Huge win, but a tad fluky.

Not Top 15. Yes they beat the #1 team in the country, at home. There best win prior to that was against NC State. I'd say 18-22 range.

Beyond stupid and lame. If I were to wager, they will likely hang a real banner (Final Four or National Title) before we do again. They have it going big time there and they are stable with their conference, which is very important. The Big Ten is the best conference in basketball this year which is the one thing that will hold IU back a bit this season, but next year they will be a top 10 program.

I understand the "if i had to place money on it, I would choose Indiana" - but aren't we being a little high on Indiana (and the Big 10) after one big win? You can pretty much throw that bet at me anytime and I'll take it, Indiana is one of the blue bloods and will always have a better possibility of making a FF or NC.

Shut up Chicos. You were banned from this board. No one wants you on this site nor wants to hear your lame crush for Tom Crean and Indiana. Yes, it was a great win for Indiana. But I will always be bitter towards Tom Crean and the way he left this program. Please do us all a favor and never post on this board again. You are a has been/never was love boy of Crean who never saw the court as a player but thinks he knows everything about basketball and I quite frankly am sick of your crap.
Good for Crean and IU. I hated the way TC left MU and held that for a long time. We are in a great place with Buzz Williams and it looks like Crean will start realizing his vision to rebuild IU from the toughest of starting points. My son in college (Ohio State) was home for the weekend and we watched the ending of the game...it was what makes college athletics so much better than the pros in so many ways. Anyway, I was sort of showing mixed emotions as Crean was celebrating and he looked at me and said: "Dad, the guy was just following his dreams....why not celebrate that he is making them come true?" Why not, indeed?
By the way, we were at the Allen Fieldhouse for KU vs. OSU today...talk about a raucous environment....wow.
Great day for college hoops...and it is only December.
It should be interesting to see where the NCAA puts the MU-IU matchup in the tourney. Pre-season, I thought it could possibly happen round one. Maybe they'll have to wait until round 2.

That was horrible....except for the post-game speech by the cincinnati coach...I know there is another thread on it.
Allen Fieldhouse is sort of like a Lambeau Field of college hoops. It only seats 16,000 and no tiers so the place is loud... I mean really loud. They also have their hall of fame in the building which is very cool. So much tradition at KU for hoops it is incredible. Students and old fogies alike are up most of the game. Almost every game is very loud as the place is really a barn, but, today was exceptional, even with Sullinger out. If you ever have the chance...go. It should be on college hoops fans bucket list. If you do go, let me know and I will point you to some outstanding pre and post game places.
Since my son goes to OSU, I am hoping Marquette gets place in Columbus for the tourney's opening round this year...
Funniest part of the game today was watching Charlie Weiss promise at halftime that he would lead Kansas to national prominence in football....um...sure you will Charlie.

The guy has done an outstanding job rebuilding a program that was in absolute shambles when he got there. Atleast lets give him that. He still has his major flaws but I will atleast admit that he has done a very good job putting Indiana basketball back to some national attention. Hell they are about to be in the polls for the first time since like 07 this coming week.

And as for the Charlie Weis hire, the gf says she's happy she gets to bring back the "KU Football: Our coach can eat your coach" t-shirt that she wore during the Mangino years.

Take it up with Chicos then. Stop accusing everyone that moved on years ago (with Crean's departure) and can appreciate a fantastic college basketball game of some pro Crean, pro IU, anti-Marquette agenda. Worse, stop accusing random people of being someone they aren't.
That was an incredible basketball game. A number of our coaches left MU in a terrible fashion. O'Neill, Majerus, Crean. Crean gave us Buzz Williams, sweet uniforms, Wes Matthews, Steve Novak, Dwyane Wade, a Final Four. He left as did O'Neill and Majerus. We are doing just fine. IU is doing really well now, which sucks from a Purdue perspective but it is hardly surprising they are successful. Only an idiot or someone not thinking with their head but only through some lack of emotional development would think they wouldn't do well, but there are plenty of those people here and elsewhere.

Your version of ESPN must be different than mine. He said IU players tried to give it away, which at times they did. He did applaud his coaches, as well as his players.
video is here of interview http://search.espn.go.com/results?searchString=indiana&dims=4294876477
"I love these players", "our team, there was never a time in those timeouts where they didn't believe we were going to win"
When Buzz says we almost gave it away is that any different than when another coach does? Coaches get frustrated when players do not execute game plans. Coach Caliprari has to be furious they didn't foul IU, especially when he told them to do that. His post game comments were of frustration for that. Coaches just calling it like it is.
Again, maybe your version of ESPN is different than mine but that is the interview I saw and apparently the one that was captured on ESPN.com also.

One of the things I agreed with chicos about was his attitude toward Crean. I've never understood the collective inability to move on by a vocal minority.
I'm not enamored with Crean, but he's responsible for two great people coming to MU, Dwyane Wade and Buzz Williams (not to mention the 3 amigos, etc). So he was good for MU. When it comes to being a fan, you don't make rational decisions about who to root for, though, and despite myself I still want IU to lose every time they take the court.
All that being said, Indiana plays great defense. I forgot how well his teams play D. Buzz has him 6 ways to Sunday on the offensive end IMO, but Crean's team play good D.

I usually agree with you CT, but we watched a different game on Saturday. Kentucky (great athletes, not great shooters) shot 55+% because they got layup after layup (especially the last 12-15 minutes). IU won because a) they were white hot from 3 (27 points on 15 shots), b) Kentucky couldn't make free throws and c) Kentucky didn't use the 2 free fouls they had to disrupt IU at the end of the game.

I don't think anyone is claiming TC "only recruited one good player his entire coaching career". That said, TC didn't make the tournament in years 1,2,5 and 6 at MU. Tons of people have claimed Tom Crean was a one trick pony with that pony arriving from Robbins, IL.
As for his tenure, it's unclear. Cords and Wild firmly believed in his pedigree from Michigan State. If you travel back to the mindset of the early 2000s, forgetting all that has been accomplished since then in our program, I don't think its unreasonable to opine that Crean wouldn't have been fired.

Never understood this line of thinking. He did land Wade, so what is the point. He came to Marquette, loved playing for Crean and to this day continues to say that. Look at his tweets the last week about his former coach. When people start saying what would have happened if Wade didn't come here they begin going into the abyss because that's a fairy tale game. Wade did come here, that's part of Crean's legacy. He got Wade to MU and deserves the spoils that go with it. A good number of us that moved on years ago are damn glad that he did get Wade here and stay away from odd arguments that are based solely on emotion and personal animosity rather than facts.
Maybe you can find a comment that Jay Bilas didn't make and claim he did. :D

And with all these great players Crean won exactly 1 NCAA tournament game without Dwyane Wade in a now 13 year head coaching career. The problem with Crean's recruiting was he landed 3 stars in 1 class (Big 3), and then about 1 good player every other year. The depth of his recruiting was poor. Thankfully Crean's assistant did recognize Wade as a talent and sold Crean on recruiting him...and thankfully we beat out Bradley for Wade's services as a Prop 48 since no BCS schools could sign him due to his Prop 48 status. These are simply facts of his track record at MU...he definitely was an upgrade over Mike Deane, no doubt.

Cincinnati did much the same thing last year, except of course the massive non-conference win over Kentucky, while being average in the Big East and it seemed they were a no-brainer.
If Indiana is 8-10 in conference but beats, say, Ohio State or Wisconsin, it could be tough to leave them out.
