Also has nine Big 10 teams in.
Uh .... no.
Yeah, WAY too early...no freaking way Crean and IU make the tourney. Besides NC State, who have they played? Also, Seton Hall...I won't take any bracket prediction seriously until February rolls around.
Put us in Kentucky's region...we OWN them in the tournament!
Xavier's absence has to be an oversight, right?
Looking again, he's got Baylor in as the champion of the Atlantic 10...that's where he went wrong. I'm going to assume he meant to put Xavier on that line.

I would love to be rockin' in St. Louis on Sunday night after a win against #1 KY.
Deja vu all over again.
Illinois a 3 seed? Florida a 7?

I think Crean may well get in his year. He has a pretty decent squad. Zeller is a stud.
Yeah Florida at 7 is way too low. I wouldn't like our 2nd round matchup at all. Not that we couldn't beat them, but that'd almost be a punishment for getting a 2 seed rather than a reward.
He doesn't project out or use any ranking bias. Florida has two losses, and is therefore a 7. Illinois is undefeated, and thus a 3. It really means nothing, other than right now he thinks MU is one of the top 8 teams in the country based on what they have done so far.
Rematch with Norfolk State in the Sweet Sixteen? 8-)
I think a 2 is accurate based on our work so far, and honestly, I've been thinking a 2-3 is where we should be since the offseason. Without Otule, that may well change.
As far as Indiana, I think they have a decent chance this year. They're a virtual lock for 12 non-con wins. If they can go 9-9 in conference (definitely doable) they should make the tournament, despite a pillow-soft non-conference schedule.

As he says, this bracket is based on what teams have already done and no effort is made to predict future results. Big Ten teams will have to lose to one another in conference play so I'd agree that 9 of them won't make it. I'm guessing he would too.
Northwestern making their first ever NCAA tournament appearance. I'm sure they're thrilled about that!

Don't get too excited yet! I remember the last time we were all wearing Marquette "meet me in St. Louis" Final Four t-shirts!!
We never got out of Indianapolis and Miami of Ohio. Worst day in MU basketball history.
A 2 seed means we are a top 8 team. I think a 3 (top 12) or 4 (top 16) is more realistic. Two things to wory about. Injury to Otule and so far we are 3-0 in games that were close. I be worried about the close game record evening out.
xavier is 2 in the Phoenix bracket
I also like how he says that one of the major changes to this bracket compared to October's is, "For instance, North Carolina, the former overall No. 1, is now a 2-seed"
And I'm ignoring thissssss braaaacket.....now.

He fixed it. Before he had Baylor in twice.

I was referencing 2003, BTW. But you're half right... It was the worst
Final Four appearance in MU history.

Agreed - I'd be stunned if Indiana didn't make the tourney with the talent he has brought in. They will only get better as the year goes on.
I am going to see them play Kentucky Saturday night with a client, so maybe my opinion will change if they get destroyed then.
Looks like only 6 members of the future Big East, unless San Diego State joins in basketball as well and Temple gets a bid due to Navy turning the Big East down:
Marquette – 2
Louisville – 2
Georgetown - 4
UConn – 4
UCF - 8
San Diego State – 8 (if they choose to join in hoops)
Seton Hall – 13
Temple? – 14
Leaving
Syracuse - 1
Pittsburgh - 6

True, but Notre Dame will rebound from this season and Rutgers and Houston look promising in the future. I'll believe Seton Hall makes the NCAA Tourney when it actually happens though.
I would guess the future Big East would put 7-8 bids in per year.

They may, but the BE gets more in due to the size of the league in many instances. That is why the total number of teams, to me, is irrelevant in the discussions. A 16 team league would get more in versus a comparable 10-12 team league.

Most years, but not this year. With some of the teams moving out one has to wonder in the future if we become a 6 to 7 team bid league. Big Ten should get 8 this year and might get 9. That would be 75% of their league and likely an all-time record from a % of a conference going to the NCAA tournament.

You might want to rethink this...Creans squad is great this year especially after that amazing win vs the number 1 team in college basketball

For a guy who claims to deal in "reality" this post takes the cake. 9 bids? Seriously? Who out of Nebraska, Penn State, Iowa and Minnesota doesn't stink? That brings you down to 8, and after losing by 28 at home to Baylor, Northwestern is hardly a lock.
I'll give you 10-1 on 9. I'll take even money on 9 vs 7 with 8 as a push. You name any amount you're comfortable with. Should be a considerable amount as you only deal in "reality".

What would Jay Bilas say (actually say, not something you think he said but didn't say and then position to all of us that he said it.)?
My recommendation would be to go back and read what my comments were. "Big Ten should get 8 this year and might get 9"
The Big Ten should get 8. They might get 9. The NCAA tournament has never cared how much a team loses by in a game. Your Baylor score might as well be a victory of one point. Eight is my prediction. They will receive more bids than the Big East this year.
So everybody but Nebraska, Iowa, Penn St? Really?
