San Diego State in the Big East?  Something about that seems funny to me...

One thing I find frustrating is that when discussing the state of Big East basketball and its strength Katz in this segment, and other National media) always mention remaining Big East basketball powers - Georgetown, Villanova, UCONN, and Lville - almost NEVER is MU mentioned, and our combined Big East record since joining the conference in 2005 - I would suspect is better than all of those schools, save perhaps UCONN.  We are a Big East elite/flagship program and should be recognized as such..

End of rant.

Probably off topic for me to bring up the Philadelphia Eagles here, right?

With 12 teams in the big 10, it kind of fits.

Nice, more just a lurker most the times.

I get it isn't ideal but what ever is?  I think this adds some interesting teams.

I also found Pitino's qoute interesting

"I think what (commissioner) John Marinatto just did, he should get a substantial raise for what he just accomplished," Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino said. "Getting Boise State. Getting Houston, SMU. I think that is as good of a job for a commissioner with his back against the wall as I've seen since I've been in athletics. The teams you lost aren't as good in football as the teams you're bringing in.""

Pitino should probably have a word with Charlie Strong and the running backs coach. They have pitched two top recruits with the idea they will be in the B12 sooner or later.

And why such praise? Is it really that difficult to recruit non-BCS programs to a BCS conference? These schools just wanted to wait until the dust settled on expansion before saying yes. The ball was in their court the entire time.

What's your source on this?  I couldn't see a kid going to a school to possibly play in a conference... wouldn't that make them Juniors by the time the big east lets them play somewhere else?

Charlie Strong's a decent recruiter; I'm thinking there was more in 'the pitch' on why to play for U of L.
Could be wrong though.

ESPN now reporting that Navy is "a few loose ends" away from being football member #11.

That's Pitino's buddy...doesn't mean much.

Win a BE title and you will get the same respect.

The quote has made the rounds.

http://www.cardchronicle.com/2011/11/29/2596680/tuesday-evening-cardinal-news-and-notes

"What was Carter's response for which league he thought the Cardinals would land in? "He said they would be in the Big 12, no doubt," Wales said."

Interesting.  I just assumed it was more of a sports rumor spreading around Louisville.  Like when my uncle told me his son was being recruited by UK.

Reports in Kansas City are saying Pitino and his coaches are telling recruits they will play in the Big XII.
