I just heard on Channel 4 that Tom Crean is not interested in the UK job.
I, too, saw the piece on TC..., would have liked it better had he been interviewed and stated he was staying here, but, happy w/ the report.
Interesting....what else did they say? Did they speak with him directly?
I just saw it on the 6pm .. no interview, just some footage of Crean .. leadoff "NO CATS FOR CREAN" .. and the sportsguy saying "Crean just doesn't appear interested no matter how many times his name comes up..." ..
"appear interested" was the phrase. What, did Lance Allan see him at the grocery store and say, huh, that's a guy who doesn't appear interested?
ohhh happy days... I hope the report is accurate! ;D
Later report has Puerto Rican Nightmare calling TC's house begging him to reconsider.
I hate to read too much into it, but the statement was "He's not interested in the Kentucky job." What if Izzo bolts for Kentucky? Does Crean leave the option open to go to MSU?
A new conspiracy.

4everwarriors last seen outside the Crean home, holding a one-man candlelight vigil encouraging Crean to rethink his position on UK.
haaa. awesome.
One thing I wouldn't spend any time discussing is the buy-out clause Crean has. That doesn't stop anyone. Michigan's A.D. openly said regarding Beilein's clause, "we weren't going to pay it anyway." Teams can get out of that stuff and I doubt that will ever be a deal breaker for Crean.
Look out for Izzo, though. I just have a feeling about something going on there. Just like I did that MU would play them this year. We'll see.
back from delivering a case of the finest Kentucky bourbon and a CD of "My Old Kentucky Home" to the Creans in The Quon. Mrs. Crean was quite gracious in her acceptance of the gifts, thank you. ;D

Exactly, I read today that Beilien will be paying his own buyout to WVU... http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/annarbornews/basketball/index.ssf?/base/sports-1/1175758852286380.xml&coll=2

Izzo will NOT leave MSU for another College job. He is a lifer at MSU unless an interesting Pro opportunity comes along.
I think you are 85% right. It's just that other 15% that I don't know about.
Izzo's had 10-years of success. He can leave and point to MSU and say he left it in good hands, then turn it over to Crean.
But, it makes more sense that if he were to do that, he'd do it for an NBA gig where he won't have to recruit.
i said it before...crean's silence is a sign of his lack of interest in another job...who wouldn't enjoy having their name tossed around as a candidate for the best coaching jobs in the country?...it's a confidence builder. he turned down 2.5 mil a year from arkansas, which tells me it's not about the money...he wants to build a dynasty here, just like donovan has done at florida (my opinion).
TC couldn't take the AK job because they ran out Heath - another of the Mi-State coaching family. If that offer came from another big time program, he could be on his way out of town. Silence does not always equate to " I'm not interested ".....
My theory all along is that these coaches have agents. It turns out Izzo, Donovan and Crean all use the same one. The agents are the ones talking to the reporters and floating trial balloons with the various openings at schools and the media.
The question I have is, why do these guys employ agents when they are not planning on moving? Perhaps, Crean, being the master of PR, likes to have his name associated with such top programs like Kentucky. He has said it on many occasions before for other openings (i am paraphrasing), "it is flattering to be mentioned for consideration."
why do people have wills if they don't plan on dying? sometimes tings happen that are out of your control...

Agents do a lot of things for coaches besides help them get jobs. Shoe contracts, radio shows, television commercials, book deals, speaking engagements, etc., etc., etc. Think about Coach K. I'd bet my house that he doesn't have much interest in leaving Duke, and I'd bet my life that he has an agent. And, judging by how much I see and hear about Coach K, a damn good one at that. I've got to think that a good agent can greatly increase a coach's earnings. And part of that, as you suggest, is keeping the coach's name on everyone's lips -- even if he has no intention of moving.
