I could not believe how inept the announcers were. On the play where Mayo leaped over the UW shooter outside the arc, they three times said it was Vander. Then late in the game they wondered how long Buzz was going to keep Crowder on the bench with four fouls, when Jae had been in the game for more than a minute and had just grabbed a rebound. Then, down 4 with 54 seconds left they say UW doesn't need to foul "unless Bo thinks it's necessary." HUH? Finally, Bucky fouls Crowder in the final minute and one of the clowns says it's a good move since Jae is a 67 percent FT shooter. But UW wasn't even in the bonus then. Nice result to a game that had two morons broadcasting it.
I remember thinking at the time "HUH?!!... These bozos don't even known who is in the game."
They confused Vander and Mayo for most of the first half. If only the players had their names or even numbers on their jerseys to help announcers tell them apart!
MerrittsMustache, don't forget the fact that Mayo was wearing an arm sleeve covering almost all of his right arm.
The charge that was called on Vander had to be reviewed because they called it on Jamil Wilson.
How do you mess that up?
I don't know the color guy, but the play-by-play was BA who calls games for the Brewers (and TBS in the playoffs). It's his job to be on the ball on these things, but it's gotta be a little bit of an adjustment to go from calling baseball to basketball. (yes, I'm aware that he should have made that adjustment by now because we're in December)

Jim Jackson went to Ohio State.
I love how passionate we all are. I too watched the game once again on DVR this morning (my wife says I'm crazy).
Watching the game the second time through, I was blown away with how many charging calls there were.
The call that I still get fired up on, was when DJO was making a cut (without the ball) and briefly ran into Gasser (I think). It was CLEARLY incidental contact that happens 1,000 times in a game...yet here the ref blew the whistle on DJO for an offensive foul.
That foul led directly to a tv timeout, where Buzz could be seen laughing/mocking the terrible call.
Also...the hand check call on Jamail in the second half was ridiculous.
I love how on two of the charges by Wisco, the offensive player (Tayler on one, and Gasser on the other) were screaming at the refs that the MU defenders were within the half-circle under the hoop. The replay however, clearly showed that the MU players were in great position.
Kudos to the MU defense.
When I rewatched the game, I concentrated on Wilson vs. Taylor. Simply phenominal.
Also, I only got to Two-Missi........ on Otule's 3 second call.
gASSer has also gone all-in on the Bo Ryan School of Complaining to the refs.
I forgot to set the dvr to extend the time, so my 2nd viewing was cut about 3 min short. :(
Don't these games get reviewed and critiqued by other officials ?

Agree. Jimmy Jackson is an idiot. Several times BA and JJ said that Wisco plays at a slower pace, and there is nothing that you can do about it. Really? Seems to me that Buzz realized what to do with that pace. Defensive stops=transition points.
I rewatch every BE game and was planning to rewatch this one, until I saw it the first time and wanted to gouge my eyes out....UW basketball is just painful.
However, at the end of the first viewing, I rewound and rewatched several times Buzz's exit from the court at the end of the game where he winked into the camera. Classic.
Yes sir--that was great.

I noticed this too. Bo coaches his teams well.
Someone needs to get a screen grab of the incredulous face Gasser makes.
Jon Scheyer even thinks it is over the top.
I know this was asked before, but can anyone post a torrent or make a copy of the game? I'd love to watch it again.
A couple of things:
I did play by play for a number of years before I found honest work in higher ed. (better hours and benefits too ;-) Anyhow if a play by play or color guy does his or her homework doing the game is the easy part. Prep work takes time and investment.
I have a guy working for me who refs college ball. He gets a video of the games he does and is graded on each one. It impacts future assignments. The grading is pretty extensive.

If anyone has that screen grab, we may have a new Grinch look alike.
Lost all respect for Gasser. Glad he went to UW instead of Blue!!!!
Agree the announcers were terrible and screwed up Marquette player names often. The primary announcer does the Brewer games and is consistently bad and boring. Wish we could provide input to the TV stations about poor announcers.

Me too, but we'll just have to settle for sub-par big ten homerism once a year. I can take it if the outcome is like it was on saturday.

To be fair to the Big 10 network....they probably are not used to seeing that level of athleticism at the Kohl hole ;D

Jim Jackson went to Ohio State.
And has a freshman son on Wisconsin's team.

I'll give him credit for not calling his son, "son" during the game...even though he did not see the hardwood.
