Title: announcers a little biased?
Post by: romey on December 03, 2011, 05:40:27 PM
I got so tired of them praising the badgers - while they were getting beat the whole game!

Jackson's son is on the Badger's team.

They work for the Big Ten Network. They were there to cover the University of Wisconsin-Madison. That is news to you?

I thought they were a little biased the first ten minutes but then were fairly objective.  Nice win.

It's a Big Ten Network game, of course they will be homers.

Didn't say it was news to me - just that I got tired of hearing them priase bucky.  Makes it all the more satisfyimg to win though.

I don't know that they were biased, but they were bad.  Rarely mentioned who was called on fouls, rarely showed replays on questionable calls, and quickly went to commercials after a foul.  And then during a 2 minute time out, all they did was show crowd shots.  Just not a well produced game going beyond just the announcers.  But the MU win makes it Ok.

That is more the production than the announcers.

They have ear pieces that would feed them that info

Who cares at least the refs weren't biased.

The refs were biased against everyone on the court. Thankfully, their bias was equal.

Holy crap, they were terrible.

on both sides.

What I said to my UW friend was that favors us since we roll 10 deep

I'm far from a Brian Anderson fan, but I thought the announcers were fine today, and I was expecting a Rodent love fest. An officiating crew that includes Driscoll and Hightower is gonna be poor both ways.

I thought they were unbiased in their incompetence.  LOTS of bad calls, but evenly distributed.

Agree the refs were bad both ways - but when was the last time a Marquette team was not in the bonus until intentionally being put there in the last minute of a game - yet our opposition was in the bonus around the 8 minute mark?  Under Buzz in about 80% of our games we MAKE more FT's than the opponent attempts.  There is nothing about UW's style of play that should put them at the line an equal number of times as MU other than for Ed Hightower.  Period.  Hell he was in the Wisconsin huddle under 3 minutes on 2 occasions talking with Bo Ryan..

It was a shame to have that crew tonight.  Took all the flow out of the game and really hurt both teams.  Hightower is bad and Driscoll is not far behind.  The show Driscoll made to talk to Blue and Taylor.  Come on.  The action did not dictate your pompous sermon to both.

That was really strange....went on far too long.

ya that converstation was ridiculous.... the charge calls both ways were comical... Driscoll was already getting his offensive foul hammer ready going to the other end of the court before Vander hit Bruzewrwsfaf on the break. The third reff totally saw it, but I'm not sure he can overrule Driscoll there.  Hightower's phantom 3 second call doesn't even make sense... Even if he missed him completely get 2 feet out it still wasn't 3 seconds combined for the previous 2 times in the paint... They hit the wide open 3 right after that and my stomach dropped. All the chippies with the touch of the hand or forearm from Hightower were annoying too.

Another one that was strange was the block call on Jae....but after the UW guy passed it off and got a lay up.  Bo was really pissed at that, and I don't blame them.

Another odd one was in the first half when DJO was fouled.  The refs kept looking at the scoreboard...MU wasn't in the bonus...and then called a two shot foul.

They were bad both ways.

I like BA but he didn't have a good day today and Jackson was pathetic. They went on and on about Taylor's foul trouble at the same time Crowder was on the bench with 4 fouls. I do not think they ever mentioned Crowder's 4th foul.

Took a little grief from my 5-year-old Godson on that one. Was telling Driscoll to "Shut up and ref the game" and got scolded that I shouldn't tell some to shut up that loudly because it wasn't nice.

I watdhed the game a second time on DVR and the anger I had against the refs dissipated. they were a bad crew both ways. I thought the announcers were fair.
