Up by 14 at the time of this post...for whatever thats worth. On ESPNU.
...and a 14-2 run by depaul leading up to the 8:00 official timeout...I spoke too soon...
DePual up1 34.8 secs.
Make your FTs. Good for our RPI or bad for our RPI?
Great comeback by depaul though. Free throws! Tough loss for the demons.

We are scheduled to play each once so that's a push.
I'm not sure about this but our opponents opponents are counted in our RPI. So since DePaul plays most of our opponents in conference play, I think they would weight more in our RPI.
It could be better on a more in-depth analysis (eg. record vs. RPI top 50) that Mississippi won. No way DePaul sniffs a top 50 RPI. Mississippi might straddle that line all season.

DePaul winning would have been better for our RPI. While we play each once, DePaul gives us collateral gains because they impact all the other Big East teams and count multiple times as a team that played against teams we played against.
That said, I was pulling for the Ole Miss win because I think they could be a non-con top-50 RPI win come March, and the slight gain we'd get from a Blue Demons win isn't as valuable as that is.
Forget RPI, I root for the Big East (excpet for soon to be departing members) at all times and wanted DePaul to win that game. If we take care of business (even if we don't) the resulting RPI boost/cost will be noise level.
For DePaul, that was a horrible way to lose a game after such a nice comeback. That would have driven me insane if I was a DePaul alum/fan.
I waver back and forth on how good I think we are going to be, but the fact that we utterly crushed what may be a borderline NCAA team in Ole Miss is very encouraging.

Four straight missed free throws in the last 28 seconds. That is a heartbreaker....
Did you hear the sound of those FT's hitting the rim at the end of the game. Hopefully, the guys in the production truck just had the backboard mic turned up too high. It sounded like a fender bender at 15mph.
I think I actually felt a little sorry for DePaul. Nope, just remembered their win against MU in 2009. Feeling gone!

Agreed. I still get heartburn thinking about that game. Still, I'd like it if DePaul were a decent team. The rivalry could be fun. I actually think they'll avoid the BEast cellar this year. Maybe 15th?

I was thinking this same thing. Ole Miss has a better chance of becoming a "quality win"...but not if they continue to play like they did against MU and DePaul.
All I kept thinking is that a team we beat by 1,000 on a neutral court has won the rest of its games. Can't hurt for us.

Amen. The better Ole Miss does, the better our beatdown of them looks.
