Title: Sarcasm and MUScoop

"Studies have shown that exposure to sarcasm enhances creative problem solving"

"An inability to understand sarcasm may be an early warning sign of brain disease."

We need to stop using teal on this board so that we can start diagnosing our members!  For science!

I'm sorry.   My bias against you based on your username makes it impossible for me to take this seriously.

(This was sarcasm)

You have my full support.  I detest the use of teal.  If you fall for the sarcasm, it should be on you!  That is what sarcasm is for.

That being said, I admit to using teal ... once ... I did it to avoid a firestorm that likely would have followed.   :o

I don't like teal either but without it threads take off on some strange tangents around here.

The use of teal shows an obvious inability to understand sarcasm.

Rest assured, teal has its place: when a comment intended to be said sarcastically would likely be misinterpreted as genuine by your target audience. Example:

"Three points against Jacksonville... apparently Vander has hit the ceiling" does not need to be in teal.  An astute Scooper or any educated basketball fan that realized Vander had 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals would easily see this as sarcasm.

"I wouldn't expect much more than 3 PPG from Vander for the remainder of the season" should be in teal if said sarcastically.  Since the statement is the opinion of an unknown/anonymous author, it's hard to tell whether the speaker has a legitimate reason make such a statement, is just being negative or is being sarcastic.

Why can't Buzz teach these guys how to shoot free throws?  Shouldn't they be practicing that?

When will you realize that the NCAA limits practice time, and Buzz expects that the players practice free .......

Ooops, you got me.

I think that's exactly the point why teal should not be used. If you cannot effectively deliver sarcasm without the use of teal, you deserve whatever ridicule and shame comes your way. Likewise, if you cannot pick up on a well delivered piece of sarcasm.

I have never, and will never use teal, and I look down upon anyone who does.

If you feel compelled to use teal you:
One-have no fashion sense and
two- no confidence that anyone will understand your dribble
