I just got home, missed the entire game, saved myself the heart attack.
I think the silver lining is .. winning by 20-30-40 points teaches you very little, gives you little to work on. Winning this way, gives you the W, gives Buzz the opening to get those guys working hard in the gym instead of gazing at a #8 Pomeroy rank.
ya this game should help us hopefully down the road. Got almost two weeks to get ready for Wiscos snail pace. Things better be learned.
Back on ND....Mizzou murdered them with our style of play. Hopefully Brey sticks to that defense.

Agree completely. I think Buzz is fine with this. Win, struggle, and on to a week of practices chock full of coaching moments. Far better than a Coppin State 50 point win.
FYI,
NSU hit a bomb three at halftime buzzer, another three heave from almost halfcourt and DJO missed a front end one and one with 20 seconds left. That's an 8 point difference.

Buzz said after the game that he could have done a lot more as a coach to help the team. He didn't on purpose because he thought they needed to learn how "play against the fire".
Tomorrow's news will be how we almost blew it, about how we are over-rated. There will be exaggerated hysteria on scoop. The Badger trolls will come-a-callin'.
But in March on Selection Sunday, this will be a win against a team that has compiled multiple quality wins - and will look just fine.
I'm thrilled Buzz took this opportunity to force the kids to grow up a little and grow together a little more.

I heard that and commented on that in another post. I really saw that Buzz was not as concerned about the W tonight as he was with developing this team down the road. So many times I read posts complaining about the use of time outs. Sometimes that can be a negative down the road with a young team. They need to work it out on their own, on the court. Buzz forced them to do that tonight.

Pretty sure they stay. I think the first time they go home is during Christmas break.

I anticipate MU will figure out to shred a zone. They figured out at the right time last season.
Vander scores 10, it's not much of a game. Norf would have had to readjust their defense.

Buzz knows this team better than anyone. I have complete trust in his judgment/ letting the team learn to "play against the fire." This is the type of game, that even if we would have lost, makes us better in the long run.
Before the game, I thought there would be Norfolking way we'd ever have a sweat like this...
Post game and near heart-attack aside, I'd MUCH rather have this close win than another 30pt blowout. We dodged a bullet, and this gives our guys some things to work on... perhaps even some humble pie. Much rather lose a lead and have some sloppy passes in the USVI against Norfolk than against the Badgers in Madison.
We have a great team this year, and wins like this will help us down the line.
But if we lost................... :o
Exactly. The biggest positive is that we still won. We still have a goose-egg in the loss column. Come March, this game will be a distant memory. In terms of RPI and SOS, this will only help, since those don't factor in margin of victory. And it's a confidence-builder for NSU. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they used this as motivation and ended up a 20+ win team and made the tourney out of the MEAC.
Waking up, I tend to think that while this was a nerve-wracking one to watch, it will only help going forward.
